The Post Malone x Arnette ‘Tattoo’ Sunglasses Collection Eyewear for Creative Risk Takers Everywhere

Musician, songwriter, and record producer Post Malone (real name Austin Richard Post) is known for his blending of genres, his charismatic stage presence, his variegated vocals – and his tattoos! In collaboration with Arnette, Post Malone has created an exclusive range of sunglasses that incorporate elements of his famous facial inkings, perfect for fans who’d like to emulate the star’s style without going under the needle.

The Post Malone x Arnette Tattoo Collection

This very special collection is made using bio-plastic materials, with logo-embellished A-cut temples and integrated hinges, and features the inscription, ‘Inspired by Post Malone.’ And if you choose to order a pair, they’ll arrive in eco-friendly packaging, too. Each set of sunglasses in the range has laser polished ‘tattoos’ on the lenses, mirroring the star’s own facial artwork: stylized text with the words ‘Stay Away,’ ‘Always,’ and ‘Tired.’ The placement of the text reflects where the words appear on Post Malone’s face, giving the impression that the wearer sports the same tats.

The sunglasses collection was inspired to be gender fluid, with blocky rectangular-shaped frames and futuristic flat lenses with a hint of nineties-style inspiration, and are available in white, black, and brown.

In general, this shape of frame suits those with round and oval faces best – if your face is angular, then you may wish to consider the curvier optical glasses that were part of Post Malone’s former collaboration with Arnette, discussed below.

Former Eyewear Collaboration With Arnette

This isn’t the first time that Post Malone has collaborated with sportswear brand Arnette to produce exclusive eyewear. In 2020 the star helped design two pairs of glasses, which were inspired by his personality and sense of artistic adventure.

Post Malone didn’t just act as a famous name endorsing the eyewear: he played a key role in choosing the silhouettes and creating the color palette. Like his more recent collection with Arnette, the glasses were designed with sustainability in mind: as well as the use of bio-acetate, the company deployed production processes that aimed to reduce the release of emissions and was committed to conserving energy throughout the manufacturing process, too.

The Shades

The first in the collaborative collection was a pair of standout shades available in several striking colors, including Blue Jeans, Blood Red, Purple Haze, Deep Forest, and Blackout. Angular and square-shaped, the frames boast the Arnette logo on the outer temple tips and a gold-plated ‘Post Malone’ logo and exposed-wire stitching on the inside of the frames.

The Optical Glasses

The second in the Post Malone-Arnette collection was clear-lensed eyewear that could be fitted with prescription lenses if required. Available with either a tortoiseshell or transparent frame, they fuse a bookish vibe with a contemporary, urban edge.

What Do Post Malone’s Facial Tattoos Mean?

The ‘Always Tired’ tattoo in a cursive script that Post Malone sports beneath his eyes are probably his most famous and distinctive inking. The star had it done in 2018 and has suggested that it doesn’t have any deep or profound meaning but was completed as he wanted to simply make his face interesting to look at. Did it hurt? The rapper has assured interviewees that that was very much the case.

And how about the ‘Stay Away’ also in a cursive style of text, above Post Malone’s right eyebrow? The star has revealed the words reference his favorite song by Nirvana, and the tattoo itself was inspired by the ‘Cry Baby’ tattoo sported by Lil Peeps.

Fans will have also noticed the wave pattern inked into the skin to the left of Post Malone’s left eye, designed to appear as if the flowing ink is emanating from his hairline. This Japanese-style design was courtesy of the artist Ganji, who inked it for the star in Tokyo.

And how about the barbed wire on Post Malone’s forehead – is it anything to do with Jesus’ crown of thorns, as some have suggested? Well, no. The star has previously said that he had the inking simply because he thought it’d look cool. Barbed wire is incorporated into some of his other tats, including those on his hands.

Other Tattoo Sunglasses Designs

Post Malone’s tattoos, surrounding his eyes as they do, give the impression that he’s wearing inked-on sunglasses. It’s only when you look closer that you can see the intricacies of each separate design.

For some people, however, subtlety is not what they’re after. A quick look on Google reveals details of folk who’ve decided their best move is to get a pair of sunglasses literally inked onto their faces. What is the likelihood that these individuals were sober when they came up with the idea? Very low.

Post Malone and Arnette: An Eyewear Match Made in Heaven

The ongoing collaboration between Post Malone and Arnette is proving a highly successful one, resulting in innovative, stylish, eco-friendly collections that reflect the star’s unique personality and creative adventurousness and the brand’s consistent high quality. If you weren’t in time to get your hands on a pair of the shades or optical glasses in the last two collections, don’t worry- a third collaboration is sure to be in the pipeline.
