Paris Fashion Week Schedule

Paris Fashion Week stands as the crown jewel of the “Big Four,” organized by the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (FHCM), the governing body of French fashion. Its roots trace to 1868, when couturier Charles Frederick Worth founded what began as the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture, des Confectionneurs et des Tailleurs pour Dame, laying the groundwork for haute couture as a protected, legally defined art form. The federation as it operates today emerged in 1973, and it took its current name, Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, in 2017.

Unlike its rivals in London, Milan, and New York, Paris alone hosts a dedicated Haute Couture Week alongside its ready-to-wear and menswear calendars, a distinction rooted in strict French regulation. To earn the “Haute Couture” designation, houses must maintain a Paris atelier, employ skilled artisans, and present a minimum number of made-to-measure, handcrafted looks each season, criteria upheld by a commission under the Ministry of Industry.

The FHCM’s official calendar brings together storied Maisons and emerging talent alike. Houses such as Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Céline, Saint Laurent, and Hermès anchor the week with runway spectacles staged in iconic Parisian venues, while newer names gain visibility through FHCM’s SPHERE showroom, supported by DEFI and L’Oréal Paris, which highlights designers selected for creativity and growth potential.

Beyond the runway, Paris Fashion Week functions as a global economic and cultural engine, drawing buyers, press, and industry insiders from around the world. Backed by partners including Mercedes-Benz and Accor, and anchored by the FHCM’s tripartite structure overseeing couture, womenswear, and menswear, the event continues to reinforce Paris’s identity as the undisputed capital of fashion craftsmanship and innovation.
