Unlike its rivals in London, Milan, and New York, Paris alone hosts a dedicated Haute Couture Week alongside its ready-to-wear and menswear calendars, a distinction rooted in strict French regulation. To earn the “Haute Couture” designation, houses must maintain a Paris atelier, employ skilled artisans, and present a minimum number of made-to-measure, handcrafted looks each season, criteria upheld by a commission under the Ministry of Industry.
