“Here and Now” puts hoodies, denim and sneakers at the center of a label whose retail sales grew 3 percent in the first half. The commercial case is sharper than the clothes

Miu Miu Spring 2027 Ready-to-Wear Collection at Paris Fashion Week

PARIS — Miuccia Prada showed Miu Miu’s spring 2027 collection, titled “Here and Now,” on Sunday afternoon at the Palais d’Iéna, the house’s regular Paris venue, this time washed in royal purple with the seating banked into bleachers. Prada founded the label in 1993 and has designed every collection since. The proposition was narrower than her usual, and considerably easier to merchandise: take the hoodies, track pants, jeans and sneakers people are already wearing and sell them back at Miu Miu’s margin.

“I think that maybe we should elevate the normal,” Prada said after the show. The show notes made the same case in longer form, framing the season as refinement applied to an everyday wardrobe. Taken at face value, that is a designer’s statement of intent. Read against the first half’s numbers, it is a plan for what Miu Miu sells next.

Sportswear Is a Category Bet, Not a Mood

The collection ran performance jerseys cropped into small tops, technical sportswear in flat vivid color, track pants under geometric-print dresses drawn from the archive, and hoodies left intact as hoodies. Against those sat tailored suits, chemisiers, satin and gauze, laminated suede finished to look worn, and evening silks deliberately crushed. Prada did not separate the two registers; she let them sit in the same look until the hierarchy between them loosened.

That is the collection’s one genuinely convincing argument, and it works because nothing is done to the sportswear. The hoodie stays a hoodie. Denim stays denim. The racing sneaker still reads as built for movement. Where Prada trusted the ordinary garment to hold its own shape, the proposition held.

Crossed Lacing Carries Too Much of the Collection

Crossed lacing ran through jeans, skirts, dresses and shoes – one device applied across four categories. “I fell in love with the stringing,” Prada said post-show, which is an honest account of how it got there and also the problem with it. A detail repeated across every product group is a merchandising decision before it is a design idea.

Miu Miu has done this before, and better, when the recurring element carried some friction – the bejeweled sock, the cropped polo. Here the lacing does the same work at every stop on the rail, and by the back half of the lineup it reads as a signature being pre-installed for the e-commerce grid rather than an idea being developed. The distinction matters at a house whose last three years were built on single items becoming objects of pursuit.

Wrangler and New Balance Lower the Door

Two collaborations carried the thesis into actual product. Vintage late-20th-century Wrangler jeans were reworked with the crossed lacing, and the New Balance partnership returned with the lightweight RC150 rebuilt in technical mesh and shifted into a quieter palette. Both land in the lowest-priced, highest-volume end of the wardrobe.

Neither is new ground. Miu Miu has worked with New Balance since spring 2022 and released a Coco Gauff collaboration on the 530 in June, ahead of Wimbledon. Stacking an upcycled denim partner and a sneaker partner into one show is a traffic strategy as much as a design one – and it puts Miu Miu’s premium into the two categories where that premium is hardest to defend, against competitors who make denim and sneakers for a living.

Embellishment Fights the Everyday Premise

The weakest looks were the ones that proved the house still does not fully trust the premise. Crystal-trimmed bra tops, embroidered fragments migrated onto sportswear shapes, and shrunken bejeweled silk minidresses in a 1960s cut are not ordinary clothes elevated – they are evening clothes cut to sportswear proportions, which is the opposite exercise and a far more familiar one.

Prada was specific that the palette was pulled deliberately away from typical sportswear colors to read as elegant. That instinct is consistent. But applied at the level of crystal and embroidery, it undoes the argument: the point of elevating the normal is that the normal survives the elevation. Added surface was the house’s fallback every time the clothes had to carry the idea alone.

Casting Famous People to Mean “People Now”

Prada said the brief for casting was people now – new faces, older women, men, a range of characters rather than one archetype. The runway she cast to deliver it included Olivia Colman, making her runway debut, alongside Emma Corrin, Igby Rigney and Gigi Hadid.

Miu Miu has run celebrity casting for several seasons, and it reliably produces the week’s most circulated images. It is also now the house’s most predictable device, and it sits awkwardly against this particular brief. A show arguing for the anonymous uniform of contemporary life is undercut when the people wearing it are the least anonymous in the room.

A 3 Percent Half Changes What This Show Is For

The decision to build a collection around entry categories is legible in the results. Miu Miu’s retail sales rose 3 percent on an organic basis in the first half ended June 30, compared with 49 percent growth in the same period of 2025 and 40 percent in the second quarter of that year, according to Prada Group. The label contributed 763 million euros of the group’s 2.63 billion euros in first-half retail sales, or about 29 percent, down from roughly 32 percent a year earlier – a shift that largely reflects Versace’s 219 million euros entering the base rather than a contraction at Miu Miu. Group chief executive officer Andrea Guerra said the brand’s foundations “sustained relevance and desirability” against the comparison. The results do not establish whether a wardrobe built on denim, jersey and sneakers extends the customer base or dilutes the pricing power that produced the prior three years.

The Impression scored the show 9.3. Reception elsewhere was more divided, with sustained criticism aimed at the styling and casting rather than the clothes.

Prada has spent a career finding the interesting thing inside the obvious one, and the hoodie left alone was the strongest object in this collection. Nearly everything the house added to it – the lacing, the crystals, the famous names – argued against the case she said she wanted to make. Elevating the normal only counts if it’s still recognizable by the time it reaches the floor.
