Beyond the softball excitement, the event marked the kickoff of the Cactus Jack HBCU Classic, a three-day collegiate baseball tournament showcasing Division 1 teams from HBCUs. Honoring Excellence: Waymond Webster HBCU Scholarship

The festivities commenced with a ceremony honoring recipients of the Waymond Webster HBCU scholarship. This heartfelt acknowledgment emphasized the foundation’s dedication to advancing education and creative resources for the youth. The Webster family, instrumental contributors through the Waymon Webster HBCU Scholarship Fund, received the HBCU Vanguard Award and a proclamation from NAACP Houston for their outstanding contributions.

A first-of-its-kind addition to the event was the Cactus Jack Foundation Social Impact Village, situated on the main concourse.
