ULKIN
ULKIN is one of the most established names in Seoul’s sustainability-focused design scene, led by creative director Lee Seong Dong. Since founding the label, Lee has built its identity around upcycling, deconstruction, and reconstruction – regularly collaborating with emerging visual artists, staging exhibitions of their work, and supplying them with art materials, with fifty percent of proceeds from resulting collaborative pieces going directly to the artist. A parallel accessories line, UL:KIN Upcycling Label, turns discarded or unwanted paintings into leather-alternative bags, giving each piece a genuinely one-of-a-kind surface.
UL:KIN has represented Korea internationally as part of the government-backed Concept Korea programme at New York Fashion Week, appearing alongside labels including Cahiers and BESFXXK, and has shown at the Copenhagen International Fashion Fair. Its collections tend to build outward from a single social or environmental theme each season – recent editions have used ocean pollution and abandoned fishing gear as both material source and conceptual anchor, translating heavy subject matter into wearable, upcycled ready-to-wear.
For S/S 2027, UL:KIN returns to the DDP Art Hall 1 runway continuing its season-by-season practice of using fashion as a vehicle for material and social commentary – sustainability treated not as a marketing footnote but as the brand’s central design method.
