Rising Singer/Songwriter Kinsley Releases “Whiplash”
The official music video for Kinsley’s “Whiplash”: Watch

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- On the heels of the announcement of her signing with MCA, rising singer/songwriter Kinsley releases “Whiplash,” a fiery track that taps into her lifelong love of rock music while remaining grounded in country storytelling. Listen to “Whiplash” Here.
“This song leans into my rock influences,” shares Kinsley. “Growing up listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd, Foo Fighters, and Led Zeppelin, it’s always been one of my favorite genres, and it brings so much energy and spirit to ‘Whiplash.’”
Written by Kinsley alongside producers Devin Dawson and Josh Kerr, “Whiplash” follows the release of her debut song “Pieces of Me,” which introduced listeners to her introspective songwriting through themes of heartbreak, identity and healing.
While that track looked inward, “Whiplash” turns its gaze outward, channeling sharp wit and unapologetic attitude into a story of karma coming full circle:
What you did to me, she did it right back
Cut the brakes at a hundred an hour
Whiplash, whiplash
Sorry honey but you had it comin’
Shattered ego, don’t blame the crash
Ran to her and she took off runnin’
I heard they got a word for that
Whiplash
As Kinsley continues to build momentum following her signing with MCA, “Whiplash” marks the latest preview of a growing body of work that showcases both her fearless songwriting and genre-spanning influences.
Kinsley first connected with audiences through her “Midnight Sessions” on YouTube – intimate performances that offered an early glimpse into her deeply personal songwriting. Watch Here.
From growing up in California to learning music on her family’s land in North Carolina to moving to Texas in high school before eventually settling in Tennessee with her family, each chapter has left its mark on both Kinsley’s perspective and her sound.
About Kinsley

A Sound Built Across State Lines
Kinsley’s artistic identity is inseparable from her biography. Born in California, she absorbed the sun-soaked, laid-back sensibility of the West Coast before her family relocated to North Carolina, where she began learning music on their land, an environment that introduced her to the quieter, more contemplative side of songwriting. A subsequent move to Texas during her high school years brought her into contact with a broader country and Americana tradition, shaping her ear for narrative and her instinct for emotional directness.
By the time she settled in Nashville, Tennessee, each of those geographic chapters had already woven itself into the fabric of her writing. That layered background is precisely what distinguishes her from artists who arrive in Nashville with a single, pre-formed sound. Kinsley brings the emotional openness of the West Coast, the rootedness of the American South, and the grit of Texas to every track she records. “Whiplash” is a clear expression of that synthesis, pairing the rhythmic aggression of classic rock with the confessional storytelling that has long defined Nashville’s finest songwriting tradition. The result is an artist who fits no single category neatly, and who is more compelling for it.
The Creative Team Behind 'Whiplash'
The production of “Whiplash” reflects a deliberate pairing of talent and vision. Kinsley co-wrote the track with Devin Dawson and Josh Kerr, two producers whose individual credits span some of country and pop music’s most commercially and critically successful recent work. Dawson, himself a recording artist signed to Warner Music Nashville, brings a songwriter’s sensitivity to the production room, ensuring that the energy of a track never overwhelms its lyrical intent. Kerr’s production instincts complement that sensibility, helping to construct a sonic landscape that is muscular without sacrificing nuance.
Together, the trio channeled the spirit of the classic rock acts Kinsley grew up admiring, including Lynyrd Skynyrd, Foo Fighters, and Led Zeppelin, into a framework that still honors country music’s storytelling conventions. The chorus, in particular, demonstrates that balance: the guitars carry the kinetic force of arena rock while the lyrical hook delivers the kind of wry, pointed narrative that has been a hallmark of country songwriting for decades. For listeners, the collaboration signals that Kinsley’s artistic development is being guided by partners who understand both where she comes from and where she is capable of going.
From 'Midnight Sessions' to MCA: Kinsley's Rising Trajectory
Long before a major label signing entered the picture, Kinsley was building an audience through discipline and directness. Her “Midnight Sessions” series on YouTube offered viewers unfiltered access to her voice and her songwriting, stripped of production polish and presented in the kind of intimate setting that rewards genuine artistry. Those performances circulated among listeners who value authenticity, and they established a foundation of trust between Kinsley and her growing audience that no marketing campaign can replicate.
Her debut single, “Pieces of Me,” extended that trust into a fully produced format, introducing themes of heartbreak, identity, and healing to a wider listenership. The signing with MCA, one of the most storied names in the Nashville music industry, represents the institutional recognition of what that audience already understood: Kinsley is a serious, committed artist with a distinct voice and a clear creative vision.
“Whiplash” arrives as the second data point in what is shaping up to be a compelling catalog, one that moves fluidly between introspection and outward assertion without losing coherence. As Kinsley continues to release new material, the arc of her development as a songwriter and performer will be worth following closely.
