BMUET(TE)

BMUET(TE) is a ready-to-wear label founded by design duo Byungmun Seo and Jina Um, who met while working together in Seoul before relocating to London, where Seo completed his master’s at London College of Fashion. The brand’s name combines the verb “be” with the French word muette, meaning silent — a nod to the pair’s description of their creative process as quiet, internal imagination given form. Their collections are frequently summed up in their own phrase: “weird but beautiful,” mixing rebellious, deconstructed detailing with a soft, romantic undertone.

Originally launched as a menswear line before adding womenswear, BMUET(TE) has been a Woolmark Prize Asia finalist, shown at Pitti Uomo and Paris Fashion Week, and been worn publicly by Justin Bieber. In 2018 the duo introduced SOUNDS BMUET(TE), a younger, more street-inspired diffusion line at an accessible price point. The label has also been part of The Selects, a KOCCA-backed New York showroom representing ten of Korea’s most promising designers to the US market.

At S/S 2027, BMUET(TE) presents at DDP’s Yigansumun venue as part of the presentation programme, continuing the label’s exploration of anonymity, provocation, and rule-breaking silhouette work – a format that gives buyers and press room to engage with the construction detail that underpins the brand’s deconstructive aesthetic.
