Hodakova
HODAKOVA presents on Monday evening as one of the most decorated young houses on the current Paris schedule. Swedish designer Ellen Hodakova Larsson founded her namesake label built entirely on the principle of radical reconstruction — garments assembled almost exclusively from repurposed, deadstock, and discarded materials, including neckties reworked into skirts, work gloves reborn as bustiers, and cutlery transformed into jewelry. Hodakova won the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers in 2024, one of the industry’s most closely watched validations for emerging talent, catapulting the label from niche, upcycling-focused curiosity to one of the most talked-about names in contemporary Paris fashion.
What distinguishes Hodakova’s practice is the refusal to treat sustainability as a compromise on desirability: pieces are conceived first as objects of genuine covetability, with their upcycled origin functioning as a conceptual and technical challenge rather than a marketing footnote. The label’s runway shows have become known for revealing, at the end of each look, exactly what discarded object a garment began as — a shirt-collar necklace, a tie transformed into a bodice — turning the show itself into a kind of material-transformation reveal that keeps the audience guessing collection to collection.
For S/S 2027, the brand continues that practice of turning waste into desire on the Paris runway, extending the label’s rapid rise from LVMH Prize winner to one of the genuinely essential shows on the current Paris Fashion Week calendar.
