SAINT LAURENT

SAINT LAURENT closes the second day of Paris Fashion Week as one of the industry’s defining houses. Founded by Yves Saint Laurent in 1961 after his tenure at Christian Dior, the house pioneered ready-to-wear as a legitimate luxury category through its Rive Gauche line and introduced garments that permanently reshaped how women dressed — the tuxedo-inspired Le Smoking suit, the safari jacket, sheer blouses — cementing Saint Laurent’s reputation as the designer who brought menswear tailoring into women’s high fashion. The house has remained one of the most culturally significant names in French fashion in the decades since its founder’s 2002 retirement and 2008 death.

Since 2012, Saint Laurent has been under the creative direction of Anthony Vaccarello, who has maintained the house’s core identity — sharp tailoring, rock-and-roll glamour, a heavy reliance on black — while updating it for a contemporary luxury market. Now part of the Kering group, Saint Laurent’s runway shows are consistently staged as major cultural events, often at landmark Parisian sites including the Eiffel Tower’s Champ de Mars, and the house continues to command one of the latest and most anticipated evening slots on the official calendar.

For S/S 2027, SAINT LAURENT closes Tuesday’s programme at 21:00, continuing a six-decade legacy in which the house has consistently positioned itself at the exact intersection of provocation, tailoring discipline, and unmistakable Parisian glamour.
