Tory Burch, Diane von Furstenberg, and Fabiola Beracasa Beckman co-host a star-studded cocktail to mark the entrepreneur’s debut book launch

On a Tuesday evening, April 14, in Manhattan, the city’s fashion, media, and business worlds converged to celebrate one of the most anticipated books of the season. Serial entrepreneur Emma Grede — founding partner of SKIMS, CEO of Good American, and Forbes’ America’s Richest Self-Made Women honoree — marked the launch of her debut book, Start With Yourself: A New Vision for Work & Life, with an intimate cocktail that felt less like a standard book party and more like a genuine gathering of community.
The evening was hosted by Tory Burch at her New York apartment, alongside fashion legend Diane von Furstenberg and Fabiola Beracasa Beckman. Remarks from Grede and her co-hosts set the tone — candid, purposeful, and warmly personal — before giving way to cocktails, canapés, and the kind of fluid, unhurried conversation that rarely happens in a city that is always rushing somewhere.
“Bringing this group together to celebrate Start With Yourself feels incredibly meaningful. The book is rooted in the idea that real change begins internally but is amplified through community.”

Grede’s book challenges what she calls “Old Thoughts” — the stale, unexamined rules baked into our culture around ambition, money, and work-life balance. Her argument: these aren’t universal truths, they’re biases and system errors. Unlearning them, she insists, is the first step toward genuine control over how you live and build. The evening’s energy bore that message out — it was a room of people who had, in various ways, written their own rules.

Among the evening’s guests
Gayle King, Law Roach, Sophia Bush, Ashlyn Harris, Ego Nwodim, Derek Blasberg, Wendi Murdoch, Natalie Massenet, Stephanie Horton, Rachel Scott, Huma Abedin, Joseph Altuzarra, Selby Drummond, Jamie Tisch, Bethann Hardison, Jenna Lyons, Samira Nasr, June Ambrose, Athena Calderone, Brett Heyman, Cassandra Grey, and others.
