Coming together at the Emerson Fittipaldi Concours d’Elegance Key Biscayne, Lotus and Emerson continue to celebrate a collaboration and partnership that has lasted more than 50 years.
The F1 legend’s championship-winning Lotus Type 72 was on display alongside a brand-new Evija Fittipaldi. And joining them is a reborn Lotus legend, a design that was never raced or even built-in period. The Lotus Type 66 is a new, ultra-exclusive, low-volume car from Lotus. It brings to life a ‘lost Lotus’ drawing board program from 1970. Destined to race in the popular Can-Am racing series, it combines today’s state-of-the-art racing technology and components with classic Lotus design. The Evija Fittipaldi displays the world-famous black and gold Lotus race livery, including a hand-painted exterior and numerous other unique design features that have been created to commemorate the successful 1972 season when Emerson was crowned F1 champion. They include a hand-tinted plan view of the Type 72 etched into the exposed carbon fiber roof, and Emerson’s signature hand-stitched into the dashboard.
Concours D’ Elegance Exhibition of Vintage, Luxury, and F1 Cars will take place at Monaco Square. Fittipaldi Wheels showcased a fantastic array of distinctive trucks at Monaco Square that caught everyone’s attention. Fittipaldi walked throughout the grounds of the event, acknowledging car owners and fanatics alike, signing hats, and taking pictures with guests. Toscana Mare kept guests fueled and hydrated throughout the day with a special curated menu, while they enjoyed live music from The Crandons. Attendees who were looking to take some memorabilia home browsed the Tachen display with their limited collection of car books. Immediately following the exhibition, Emerson Fittipaldi himself concluded the program by presenting the awards for the most impressive vehicles, along with a panel of world-renowned judges. A few of the awards presented included Best In Show for classic and modern categories, Spirit of Competition, Vintage & Antique, and a special Key Biscayne Recognition.
