Gigi Hadid, Misty Copeland and Yang Mi return for a Fall 2026 campaign that proves the brand’s most enduring innovation – stretch – was never just about the boot. It was about the women wearing them

There is a particular pleasure in watching a fashion house flip the script on nostalgia. Anyone can dust off an archive, reissue a hit, and call it an anniversary. Stuart Weitzman, turning 40 this year, chose something rarer: it looked back not at its products, but at its people – and then invited three of them home.
For Fall 2026, the New York house has reunited Gigi Hadid, Misty Copeland and Yang Mi, each of whom helped define the brand’s modern era during the 2010s. The result is less a campaign than a reunion of old friends – staged, fittingly, against the twin skylines of New York City and Shanghai, the two poles of the label’s identity as a New York-born, globally minded luxury house. In an industry forever chasing the next face, Stuart Weitzman has made a bold counterargument: sometimes the most powerful casting is a homecoming.

Forty Years of Give
The anniversary campaign centers on a word that has anchored Stuart Weitzman since 1986, when the brand first fused its New York design sensibility with footwear craftsmanship in Spain: stretch.
It is the quiet superpower of the house’s design vocabulary – the material innovation that lets a boot hug the leg like a second skin while still walking like a first-rate shoe. Stretch gave Stuart Weitzman its elongated silhouettes, its fit-and-flexibility balancing act, and ultimately its place in the footwear canon. Forty years on, it supplies both the product focus and the narrative thread of the anniversary moment. Delivered through three women in motion across two continents, the message is that a stretch boot was never simply about elasticity. It is about movement made elegant, comfort made chic, and a metropolitan woman whose day never slows down enough to sacrifice either.

Three Returns, Three Chapters
The casting is the campaign’s quiet masterstroke – a triptych of returns, each carrying its own weight of history.
Gigi Hadid was the face of Stuart Weitzman for five consecutive seasons, from Spring 2016 through Spring 2018, and co-created limited-edition designs with the brand in 2016 and 2017. A decade after that first hello, she steps back in front of the lens at a very different point in her own story.
“I will always have a special connection to Stuart Weitzman as the brand was one of my first-ever Luxus fashion partners, so to come back now, 10 years later, and as a mom, to celebrate their 40th anniversary feels like a full-circle moment.”
A first luxury partner; a return as a mother. The full-circle is not just the brand’s – it is hers.
Misty Copeland returns after starring in the Holiday 2019 campaign, and her reunion is the most literal claim to the campaign’s central theme of movement. The former American Ballet Theatre principal dancer – the company’s first Black female principal, a title she earned in 2015 – retired from the stage last year after a historic career. Her presence gives the celebration its spine of resilience and physicality, a reminder that elegance has always been an athletic act.
“The last Stuart Weitzman campaign I did was one of my favorites I’ve ever done, so I jumped at the opportunity to come back to celebrate their 40th… well, not jumped, seeing it was only months after my hip surgery, but I was thrilled, and I couldn’t be prouder to help tell the message of rising above any obstacle.”
Leave it to a ballerina to nail the landing on a witticism – and to quietly reframe an anniversary campaign as a testament to rising above. If stretch is the product’s superpower, Copeland proves the body wearing it can be just as resilient.
Yang Mi anchors the campaign’s international dimension. The Chinese actress first partnered with Stuart Weitzman in 2019, co-creating limited-edition Spring and Fall capsules that year. Her return, paired with the Shanghai setting, underscores how far the brand’s reach has stretched – and how deeply it is woven into the Chinese market. Her reflection on the reunion reads like a diary entry.
“I’m thrilled to reunite with Stuart Weitzman on its 40th anniversary. Looking back on our first collaboration in 2019, SW brought me to a broader global stage and expanded my Mode horizons. Now, we’re coming together again to mark this milestone – because true confidence comes from within. The first journey took me outward, the second inward. SW has been there, helping me know myself better. We’ve always believed that every woman can find her own rhythm, in her own time, between strength and grace.”
Strength and grace, outward and inward – it is, in a single quote, the entire philosophy of a stretch boot.

Product at the Center
For all its emotional pull, the campaign refuses to coast on sentiment. Product sits squarely at the center, with Hadid, Copeland and Mi wearing Fall 2026 designs that put stretch through its paces across categories: the Stuart Power Boot 75, the 5050 Gisele Boot, the Ultrastassi Boot, the Stassi Stretch Bootie and the Vinnie Bootie 50, joined by the Bryant Loafer, the Nia Ballet Flat, the Vinnie Slingback Wedge 50 and the Vander Sneaker.
This lineup reads as a love letter to the house’s most recognizable contribution to footwear: boots that approach the body with an intimacy no traditional construction can match. The stretch approach allowed Stuart Weitzman to rethink the relationship between shoe and leg, yielding silhouettes that elongate as they flex. Forty years later, that idea still fits like nothing else on the market.

The Chapter Opens
Brand President Jonathan Lelonek frames the moment with appropriate stakes:
“I am proud to lead this brand as we celebrate our 40th anniversary, as well as welcome back the iconic ambassadors Gigi Hadid, Misty Copeland, and Yang Mi to wear our iconic stretch collection. Stretch is an intrinsic part of the Stuart Weitzman story: It reinforces our commitment to craftsmanship and a style-meets-comfort approach to design, which has ultimately set us apart in the luxury footwear industry.”
The campaign, part of the Caleres portfolio, is only the opening chapter. In the coming months, Stuart Weitzman plans to extend the anniversary with a series of events around the world, including activations in New York and Shanghai – a global tour of a milestone, kicked off by three familiar faces carrying the brand’s past into its next act.
Four decades in, the house that built its name on giving is still stretching – into new markets, new moments, new definitions of what a woman needs from her Schuhe. And with Hadid, Copeland and Yang Mi leading the way, the anniversary feels less like a look back and more like a promise kept.
Because the truest test of a full-circle moment isn’t whether you return to the same place. It’s whether the place has grown enough to hold you – and whether you’ve grown enough to fill it.
