KB Hong, a distinguished brand from the K-BOXING group, made a memorable appearance at Milan Menswear Fashion Week on January 15. Established in 1980 in China and nurtured across three generations, KB Hong consistently displays its unique fusion of Eastern and Western influences at this prestigious event. This year’s show, titled “The Collector from 2080” was directed by Sergio Salerni and took place at the Alcione Theater in Piazza Vetra, capturing the brand’s vision of evolving fashion across a century, merging rich cultural heritage with forward-looking fashion insights.

For the Spring/Summer 2024 season, KB Hong at Milan Fashion Week presented a collection encapsulating the theme “Past and present cross paths, creating a new future,” showcased the brand’s commitment to blending historical elegance with contemporary innovation. The collection highlighted the KB HONG as an observer who is deeply rooted in his traditions yet remains fascinated by the future. He explores various attitudes and draws inspiration from both his heritage and modern trends while staying true to his essence. This dynamic unfolded as traditional oriental costume codes were reinterpreted with a Western twist, transforming iconic asymmetrical lapels into modern Chinese style front placket jackets, complemented by wide trousers or skirts that echo the garb of imperial Han dynasty warriors.

The integration of Eastern and Western aesthetics was evident in both the clothing styles and the materials used. Luxurious fabrics such as cashmere, camel hair, alpaca wool, and silk were combined with modern synthetic fibers to create garments that respect tradition while embracing modernity. The color palette for this collection featured neutral tones accented with vibrant colors, symbolizing a harmonious blend of serenity and modern energy.
Outerwear in the collection featured belt-like stitched edges and oversized, comfortable fits, merging Oriental elegance with Western sophistication. The garments were enriched with unique graphics and combinations, a blazer transitions into the back of a shirt, and shirts adorned with large floral designs evolved into abstract jacquards. Orchids and mythological birds sketched onto the fabrics added narrative depth, while architectural details inspired by ancient Oriental constructions conveyed a sense of freedom and continuity between the past and the present.

Additionally, KB Hong at 米兰时装周 showcased its influence at the 106th edition of Pitti Uomo in Florence from June 11 to 14, where it introduced two different collections for Fall/Winter 24/25 and Spring/Summer 25. These collections emphasized KB Hong’s signature Oriental aesthetic, reinterpreted in a modern context to produce agile, urban-ready attire. This strategy underscores KB Hong’s ongoing engagement with the Italian fashion market, particularly through its collaboration with the multi-brand showroom Garage Milano, aiming to expand its presence in European retail.
Through its presentations at Milan Fashion Week and Pitti Uomo, KB Hong continues to craft garments that reflect both the rich traditions of the East and the dynamic styles of the West, promising a future rich with cultural interplay and continuous innovation in fashion.
