The Weave that Heals

A Journey into Lights From East to West

HUI 米兰 - FW25 系列

HUI Milano’s FW25 Collection at Milan 时尚 Week explores the interconnectedness of art, beauty, East and West through a symbolic red thread. This new vision transforms the act of weaving into a universal symbol of connection, bridging past and future. A unique installation brought ancient embroidery techniques to life, where artisans dressed in traditional attire embroidered porcelain, embodying guardians of time and memory. The audience was invited to participate, tying a red thread as a symbol of fate and leaving their mark on this collective ritual with the message: “Weave Your Light. Be Brave, Be Yourself.”

The red thread continued to bind art and care through “The Weaving of Light,” a project by the HUI Foundation. The project involved women from the Coltivare la Città association and young Chinese participants, guided by artist-therapist Yuan Yuan, who wove red threads onto ceramic fragments, transforming fractures into symbols of hope and resilience. This collective artistic project brought together generations and cultures. The exhibition runs until March 31 at HUI’s showroom in Milan.

The FW25 collection is also inspired by light, drawing on the dawn myth and the rising sun. It combines Eastern mythology with Western art history, reinterpreting classic motifs in modern designs. Qing Dynasty embroideries, such as the sun and clouds, symbols of imperial power, are reimagined in layers of semi-transparent organza. The collection also draws inspiration from the earth fabric patterns of the Bouyei minority, the geometric brocade patterns representing migration and community, and Miao motifs symbolizing devotion to ancestors and spirits. The result is a collection that travels from the Guizhou mountains to the Milan runways, amplifying a message of hope, freedom, and a borderless narrative.
