VALENTINO
VALENTINO presents on the official calendar as one of Italian couture’s most romantically defined houses. Founded by Valentino Garavani in 1960 after training in Paris under Jean Dessès and Guy Laroche, the house built its reputation on opulent, red-carpet-ready glamour, becoming particularly associated with a signature shade of red — “Valentino Red” — that remains one of the most recognizable color trademarks in fashion, alongside an enduring reputation for dressing film stars, socialites, and royalty across six decades of formal eveningwear.
Since Garavani’s 2008 retirement, the house has passed through several creative directors, most notably a long and influential tenure by Pierpaolo Piccioli, whose romantic, often deeply emotional couture and ready-to-wear work — including landmark collections built around radical inclusivity in casting and body diversity — significantly expanded the house’s cultural relevance before his 2024 departure to Balenciaga. The house is now part of the Kering group following a majority stake acquisition, continuing under new creative leadership tasked with balancing Valentino’s classical romantic foundations against a rapidly consolidating luxury conglomerate landscape.
For S/S 2027, VALENTINO presents on the official Paris calendar continuing over sixty years of defining Italian romantic glamour — a house whose founder’s original vision of opulent femininity remains legible through every successive creative era.
