ACNE STUDIOS presents on the official Paris calendar as one of Scandinavian fashion’s most globally influential exports. Founded in Stockholm in 1996 by Jonny Johansson, originally as a graphic design collective before pivoting into fashion, the house takes its name from the acronym “Ambition to Create Novel Expression.” Acne built its early, breakout reputation on raw, unwashed dark denim in the early 2000s, a single product category that helped establish the brand’s cult status well before it expanded into the full ready-to-wear, footwear, and accessories house it is today. 

Johansson has remained creative director throughout the house’s three-decade run, developing a design signature that blends utilitarian, workwear-inflected basics with unexpected, almost eccentric flourishes — oversized silhouettes, playful color-blocking, distinctive eyewear — while cultivating one of fashion’s most recognizable deadpan, ironic house voices in its advertising and campaign imagery. The company remains independently owned, a genuine rarity among houses of its scale and international visibility, and has grown into one of the most consistently profitable and critically respected names to emerge from the broader Scandinavian fashion wave. 

For S/S 2027, ACNE STUDIOS presents on the official Paris runway continuing three decades of finding the exact tension point between utilitarian Scandinavian restraint and genuinely odd, memorable design detail.
