The 31st Annual SAG Awards (Screen Actors Guild) took place at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium and Exposition Hall, setting the stage for the upcoming Oscars. Hosted by Kristen Bell, star of “Nobody Wants This” and a SAG nominee, the event was presented by Audi and streamed live on Netflix.
In the television categories, FX’s “Shōgun” emerged as a standout, securing four awards. The series not only clinched the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series but also saw individual accolades for Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai. Additionally, the show’s stunt performers were honored for their exceptional work.
The comedy series “Only Murders in the Building” also had a successful evening, winning the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. Martin Short received individual recognition, although he was absent from the ceremony, presumably due to health reasons.
In the film categories, there was no dominant sweep. Timothée Chalamet and Demi Moore won the top lead actor and actress honors, respectively, while “Conclave” secured the award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
A highlight of the evening was Jane Fonda receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award. In her passionate speech, she called upon the acting community to lead with empathy.
