Mulberry by Christopher Kane debuted at London Fashion Week with its inaugural Spring-Summer 2027 collection, titled City, Town, Country, marking a defining new chapter for the iconic British house. The standalone ready-to-wear and accessories line brings Christopher Kane’s distinct creative vision to Mulberry through exceptional design, craftsmanship and culture, exploring the contrasts and characters of British life at every turn.

The collection navigates the tensions that define Britain itself – establishment and subculture, the precious and the practical, nature and industry, uniformity and individuality – weaving them together into a body of work that feels both deeply rooted and entirely fresh.

Heritage as a Living Tool

Rather than treating Mulberry’s history as something to be preserved behind glass, Kane uses it as active material. The collection looks to the history and substance of the Mulberry brand, reflecting on its beginnings in Somerset, the references to founder Roger Saul, the Mulberry tree, leather, and the codes that have shaped the house over decades. These pillars are evoked not as an act of reverence, but as tools to reimagine Mulberry’s language for a new generation.

Leather and craftsmanship form the collection’s foundation. The house’s iconic Bayswater bag becomes the starting point, its distinct angles translating into style lines on the body, traced through outerwear, tailoring, knitwear and dresses. Leather panels on coats and skirts replicate the bag’s original construction, while the singular Postman’s Lock detail translates to belts and footwear, creating a seamless conversation between accessory and garment.

British Utility Meets the Precious

One of the collection’s most compelling threads is the collision of British utility with something altogether more refined. School uniform meets leather. Rugby meets tailoring. Parkas meet dresses. The result is a wardrobe that feels genuinely, specifically British, drawn from the full spectrum of the country’s sartorial culture rather than just its most polished corners.

The Mulberry tree itself becomes both emblem and organism throughout the collection, representing roots, life and growth. Alongside it comes the axe, an object of contradiction, capable of destruction but equally a tool for making and renewal. The axe’s form is abstracted through bags and footwear, connecting craft with regeneration in a quietly poetic way.

Archive Codes Reworked

White broderie anglaise pays homage to Le Style Anglais of 1975, the pivotal collection that established Mulberry’s distinctly British moda identity. Color is drawn from the Mulberry archive too, with the heritage check becoming the foundation of the palette. Its familiar colors are extracted and reworked across the collection, another house code taken out of its original context and given new purpose.

Perhaps the most personal touch is the recreation of the original 1990s Mulberry sweatshirt, reworked with minimal intervention. Once adopted by football casuals as a badge of honor in Christopher Kane’s hometown, it conjures a lasting memory of what Mulberry meant to Kane growing up, grounding the entire collection in something genuinely felt rather than simply designed.

The past is present here, not as nostalgia, but as something active, useful and alive.

Sürdürülebilirlik

Sustainability has been part of Mulberry’s ethos since the brand’s inception. In 2021, the Made to Last Manifesto detailed its commitment to becoming regenerative and circular across every aspect of the business. In 2026, Mulberry was among the first UK businesses to recertify under the new B Corp standards, reinforcing its purpose-led approach to business and commitment to continuous improvement.
