Queens, NY native and burgeoning songwriter and performer Lexa Gates is set to captivate audiences in the heart of her city as she has just announced a new show date in Brooklyn, New York on June 25th. The show will be partnered with Elsewhere and fans will be able to hear her latest single, “Stacy’s Chips” and upcoming tracks that are set to be on her debut album releasing this summer. Surrounded by music since a young age, 23-year-old Queens native Lexa Gates has the ability to evoke a full range of emotion in her music. Reminiscent of the gentle production of Noname’s lullaby rap, the introspective delivery of Earl Sweatshirt, the heartbroken lyricism of Amy Winehouse, the moments of candid humor reminiscent of Doja Cat , is what makes her dreamy mix of R&B and rap so dynamic. She favored recording music in her basement with a store-bought microphone and her mother’s laptop creating music everyday, putting in hours to perfect her craft. As her music started to garner attention, Lexa took her songwriting very seriously. Her 2022 project, Universe Wrapped in Flesh, is a bold, dense project that showcases her unencumbered flow and unshakable confidence. On Valentine’s Day 2023, Gates released the exuberant “Angel.” A TikTok user shared the audio a few weeks later, and it blew up on the platform. The song now has more than a million streams on Spotify and landed her an appearance on renowned platform On The Radar. She began working the live touring circuit in New York City and has been garnering a following of fans, ultimately landing her first ever international and festival booking at Great Escape Festival in the U.K in June. As Lexa kicks off the year with this new single, she is actively finishing off her new project that will become her debut album out later this Summer.
