VIVIENNE WESTWOOD presents on the official calendar as one of the houses most singularly responsible for punk’s entry into high fashion. Founded by the late British designer Dame Vivienne Westwood, who first rose to prominence in the 1970s designing provocative, subversive clothing sold through her boutique on London’s King’s Road alongside partner Malcolm McLaren, manager of the Sex Pistols, Westwood spent her career translating punk’s raw anti-establishment energy into increasingly sophisticated, historically literate couture and ready-to-wear. 

Westwood’s design language fused corsetry, tartan, and traditional British tailoring with deliberately deconstructed, provocative silhouettes, alongside a lifelong parallel commitment to environmental activism that became increasingly central to both her public persona and her design philosophy in later decades. Following Westwood’s death in December 2022, the house has continued under the creative direction of her husband and longtime creative partner Andreas Kronthaler, who has worked to preserve her rebellious, politically engaged design DNA while continuing to develop the brand for a new generation of customers. 

For S/S 2027, VIVIENNE WESTWOOD presents on the official calendar continuing to carry forward one of fashion’s most genuinely radical legacies — a house built from punk’s raw provocation and sustained, across five decades, by a designer who never stopped treating fashion as a political act.
