Alexander McQueen released its autumn-winter 2026 advertising campaign on July 29, with photographer Glen Luchford shooting and directing both a still series and a film component. Creative director Seán McGirr led the campaign concept, with styling by Camille Bidault-Waddington and art direction by SJ Todd. The campaign features models Karen Elson, Paloma Elsesser, Jacqui Hooper, and Xiao Wen.

The full production team includes set designer Gideon Ponte, casting director Julia Lange, hair stylist Anthony Turner, makeup artist Daniel Sallstrom, and manicurist Ama Quashie. Production was managed by Farago Projects. The campaign delivers both still photography and a film, with Luchford serving as director on the latter – a continuation of his role on the house’s fall 2024 campaign, which marked McGirr’s debut season.

The campaign’s visual strategy centers on the tension between public performance and private feeling. Luchford shoots each model within a richly appointed interior setting – plush, noir-lit rooms that function as both stage and backstage – using minimal backgrounds in the still series to isolate the garments and cast against a controlled environment. The compositions shift between formal portraiture and more physically charged, cinematic frames in the film component.

The autumn-winter 2026 collection, which showed during Paris Moda Haftası in March, anchors the campaign’s product range. Tailoring built on the house’s Savile Row heritage appears in sculpted jackets with commanding shoulder construction and precision-cut seams. Fluid silk georgette evening gowns provide contrast, moving away from the body in a silhouette that reads against the tailoring’s structural discipline. The two categories together define the collection’s proportional range.

Fabrication and surface embellishment carry significant commercial weight across the campaign imagery. Feather embroideries executed in trompe l’oeil technique create the illusion of depth and movement on flat surfaces. Ornate lace overlays are hand-stitched with construction deliberately left exposed rather than concealed – a technique that positions the making process as part of the product’s value proposition. The color palette runs from black through sapphire, burgundy, and forest green, with ivory lining visible through carefully placed openings in outerwear and tailored pieces.

Bidault-Waddington’s styling integrates the collection’s fabrication range – tailoring, silk, lace, organza, and embroidery – across the four-model cast without isolating individual pieces as hero products. The approach reflects a campaign strategy oriented toward brand equity reinforcement, using the psychological and cinematic register of the imagery to contextualize the collection rather than promote it directly.

McGirr described the collection’s conceptual framework in house materials as an examination of the conflict between private feeling and public appearance – the distance between a curated facade and the reality beneath it. The campaign’s casting reinforces that positioning. Elson, a longtime collaborator of the house, carries an established association with McQueen’s darker romantic codes. Elsesser, Hooper, and Xiao Wen extend the cast’s range across body type, nationality, and generational reference, connecting the house’s archive to its current chapter under McGirr.

The autumn-winter 2026 campaign arrives during a period of significant structural change at Alexander McQueen. Kering, which owns the house, appointed Gianfranco D’Attis as the new chief executive officer last month, succeeding Gianfilippo Testa. D’Attis is tasked with strengthening brand clarity, elevating execution, and improving financial performance, with a stated emphasis on British elevated precision tailoring and occasionwear – the two categories most prominently featured in the autumn-winter 2026 campaign. The house is also relocating its London flagship from its current location at 27 Old Bond Street, occupied since 2019, to a smaller unit on the same street this fall as part of a broader restructuring.

McGirr’s first McQueen show in London is scheduled for Sept. 20 during Londra Moda Haftası, where he will present both womenswear and menswear. The autumn-winter 2026 collection is available through Alexander McQueen’s retail network and at alexandermcqueen.com. Pricing was not disclosed in campaign materials.

The autumn-winter 2026 campaign represents McGirr’s most fully realized marketing statement since his debut fall 2024 season. By returning to Luchford – whose cinematic, psychologically dense visual language aligns closely with the house’s established codes – and deploying a cast that bridges McQueen’s history with its present, the kampanya signals a deliberate strategy of brand continuity during a period of executive and commercial transition. How that continuity translates into retail performance, and whether D’Attis’s restructuring agenda accelerates or complicates McGirr’s creative positioning, will be among the most closely tracked developments in the Kering portfolio heading into the fall season.
