Scottish producer Love, Shaun returns with the stirring new single “The Heat,” out today via Astralwerks. Слушать Вот. Composed of ingenious builds and laced with ethereal synths that jettison the track to new heights, “The Heat” is a joyous, complex offering that will undoubtedly be embraced well beyond the dance community. It follows the rising artist’s breakthrough single “The Rush,” which dropped in November.
Built around a sample of U.K. ragga deejay General Levy’s 1992 single “Heat,” the track combines his rapid-fire lyrics with Love, Shaun’s swelling soundscape that builds to big, cathartic moments and understated, string-laden interludes. Drawing inspiration from the electronic music from the 1990s, “The Heat” is both nostalgic and forward-looking , the kind of musical juxtaposition that Love, Shaun relishes.
“The Heat” has already been championed by the BBC. DJ Danny Howard dubbed it a “breakout banger” and played it on his hugely influential Dance Party, while Jesse Iszatt introduced Shaun as “an artist you NEED to know.” Listen to Shaun’s interview with Jesse здесь. He played his first show at a Coachella 2023 party, marking his arrival in the competitive world of electronic music thanks to the success of viral songs “Good Times” и “Waiting.” After posting those demos on SoundCloud, he gained organic traction with the play count hitting over 1M streams. Now, with “The Heat” Love, Shaun ups the ante with a tune that nods to EDM greatness while maintaining a buoyancy that is very much his own.
