Shenzhen Milan Lifestyle Week

The event, launched in 2024 as a creative partnership between the two cities, coincides with the Salone del Mobile to frame the exhibition “Il Gusto dei Medici” (The Taste of the Medici), supported by the Hui Foundation. The exhibition was inaugurated with a vernissage on Wednesday, April 9. The event aims to support Chinese culture through a continuous dialogue between customs and technological arts.

Shenzhen Milan Lifestyle Week celebrates the union and dialogue between tradition and innovation in conjunction with the Salone del Mobile. The Shenzhen and Milan event, born in 2024 to consolidate the partnership between Italy and China under the banner of fashion, will serve as the exclusive backdrop for “Il Gusto dei Medici” and the dialogue on technology, “Making the Extraordinary Ordinary,” an exhibition promoted by the Hui Foundation in collaboration with the Shenzhen Industrial Design Professional Association and the Longhua District.

The event, inaugurated Wednesday evening in Milan with a special vernissage at the San Vittore and Dei 40 Martiri Exhibition Complex on Viale Lucania 18, aims to support Chinese culture while enhancing the cultural bridge with Italy. The focus is on comparing customs and technological arts, bridging the ancient and modern, past and future, through the display of artworks, design, and high technology.

The exhibition, curated by Giacomo Santucci and produced by YNT Museum, will remain open to the public from April 10 to 21, Tuesday through Sunday.

The goal of Shenzhen/Milan Lifestyle Week is to best showcase the potential and innovation level of Chinese high-tech companies, particularly from Shenzhen, through a narrative that expresses the international strategic vision and intercultural dialogue. In addition to the artworks, the opening will feature a performance by Leju robots and a traditional Chinese tea ceremony to celebrate the beginning of the event.

Entering the heart of the exhibition, the relationship between the magnificence of the Medici and technological innovation will explore the connection between the mind, heart, and hands across 8 sections. An exciting journey like the Silk Road, where the languages of art, fashion, design, and Chinese innovation meet the artistic genius of the Medici Florence. The path, developed as a metaphorical journey on two trains, invites visitors to immerse themselves in the 17th and 18th-century Florentine paintings and sculptures of Salvator Rosa, Alessandro Magnasco, Gioacchino Fortini, and in the cutting-edge design from Shenzhen. A special occasion that will show how art, science, and technology are universal tools for growth and progress. An invitation to recognize the timeless value of creativity.

Through the project, the Shenzhen government also aims to promote the “Fashion + Technology” concept, a path that enhances the transmission of Chinese cultural heritage and its reinterpretation through contemporary languages such as fashion and technological innovation. The exhibition will feature moda pieces, from looks from the latest Hui Milano fashion shows to masterpieces of local Miao craftsmanship from the Guizhou region.
