LANVIN
LANVIN presents on the official calendar as the oldest continuously operating French fashion house still bearing its founder’s name. Founded by Jeanne Lanvin in 1889, the house built its reputation across the early twentieth century on romantic, richly detailed womenswear, robes de style, and an instantly recognizable shade of cobalt blue that came to be known as “Lanvin blue,” drawn from a stained-glass window Jeanne Lanvin admired at the Basilica di San Clemente in Rome.
The house has passed through numerous creative directors over the decades, including a widely admired tenure by Alber Elbaz from 2001 to 2015, credited with restoring Lanvin’s commercial and critical fortunes through a design language of draped, sculptural femininity. Lanvin is now part of the Chinese-owned Fosun-backed Lanvin Group, which also controls houses including Wolford and Sergio Rossi, and the brand has continued to work to reconcile its historic, romantic French identity with contemporary ownership and global retail ambitions.
For S/S 2027, LANVIN presents on the official Paris calendar continuing a story stretching back to 1889 — the house’s longevity alone making it a living link between the earliest days of Paris couture and the fashion week schedule as it exists today.
