Institution is a creative project established by designer Galib Gassanoff, operating as a social-artistic organization with an ethical foundation. Founded in Italy, the brand is rooted in Gassanoff’s Azerbaijani heritage and extends beyond fashion, using craftsmanship, natural materials, and community engagement to preserve fading artisanal skills. The project reimagines traditional methods while fostering social impact.

Institution was named the winner of the Zalando Visionary Award 2026, announced on January 29, 2026, in Berlin. The award recognizes makers of the future and enables designers to showcase their sustainability efforts alongside their dedication to creativity, innovation, and positive social impact. The jury repeatedly highlighted Institution’s clear vision and refined craftsmanship, noting that Gassanoff’s global mindset confidently delivers extraordinary designs while embracing inspiration from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Institution is also a finalist for the LVMH Prize, one of fashion’s most prestigious emerging designer awards. This dual recognition positions the brand at the intersection of commercial viability and artistic integrity, with support from both Zalando and LVMH’s scouting infrastructure.

For SS27, Institution will present its latest collection on the Semana de Moda de Copenhague runway, supported by Zalando as part of its commitment to spotlighting emerging designers who challenge conventions and inspire progress in the fashion industry. The brand opens Day 3 of the schedule in show format, marking a significant moment for a label that operates at the boundary between fashion, art, and social enterprise.
