BUGATTI PRESENTING ITS NEW HYPER SPORTS CAR CHIRON SUPER SPORT AND THE BOLIDE TO AN INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC IN ITALY FOR THE FIRST TIME.

A long, elegant rear streamlined bodywork – and a unique combination of comfort and top speed. With its digital unveiling of the Chiron Super Sport just a few days ago, Bugatti presented its idea of an elegant, comfortable, and top-performing carro hiperesportivo. Visitors and fans of the French luxury brand can now experience the fastest member of the Chiron family for real for the first time at the Milano Monza Open-Air Motor Show.

Bugatti Chiron Super Sport – Estreia Mundial no Salão Automóvel de Milão-Monza

The Chiron Super Sport stands for comfort and luxury coupled with even more performance and higher speeds. With its 8.0-liter W16 engine, the grand tourer with output of 1,600 PS can hit a top speed of 440 km/h. At the same time, the Chiron Super Sport represents the longitudinal dynamics part of Bugatti’s spectrum of performance – a counterpart to the Chiron Pur Sport, which was made for lateral agility.

This will also mark the first public appearance of the Bolide, an experimental vehicle which Bugatti unveiled digitally in fall 2020 and subsequently delivered across its limited production run to select long-standing Bugatti clients. The extreme, racetrack-focused hyper sports car with a power-to-weight ratio of just 0.67 kg/PS delivers up to 1,850 PS and weighs are mere 1,240 kilograms. Bugatti developed the Bolide around the W16 power train and with minimal bodywork – for incredible performance data.

What makes the  Open-Air Motor Show special is that, in addition to the vehicles’ static presentation, the Chiron Super Sport and the Bolide drive through the streets of Milan in the Premiere Parade, showcasing themselves dynamically for the very first time like on a catwalk.

Bugatti President Stephan Winkelmann was behind the wheel of the new Chiron Super Sport in the parade on Thursday evening and presented the new vehicle to the enthusiastic crowds by Milan Cathedral. “It feels fantastic to be presenting the new Chiron Super Sport live,” says Stephan Winkelmann. “Showcasing a new model in Ettore Bugatti’s birthplace is very meaningful to me. The Chiron Super Sport looks perfect in this setting of the Piazza del Duomo, and the famous Monza racetrack is nearby, too, even if it can’t show off its full potential there.”

The Milano Monza Motor Show (MIMO) ran from June 10 to 13, 2021, as an open-air event for the first time in collaboration with the region of Lombardy and the cities of Milan and Monza, and will be presenting the new models of over 50 participating automobile and motorcycle manufacturers. In addition to the new Chiron Super Sport and the Bolide, Bugatti will present the full bandwidth of the Chiron family with a Chiron Pur Sport and a Chiron Sport.

As Bugatti transitions into its post-Chiron era under the Bugatti Rimac partnership, the Chiron Super Sport remains a benchmark for grand touring performance and a highly sought collectible on the secondary market as of 2026.

Design Philosophy: Elegance at Extreme Velocity

The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport represents a deliberate and refined evolution of the Chiron bloodline, one that prioritizes grand touring capability without sacrificing the raw performance figures that define the marque. Where many manufacturers treat speed and comfort as opposing forces, Bugatti’s engineering team at Molsheim approached the Chiron Super Sport as proof that the two qualities can coexist at the highest possible level.

The most visually distinctive element is the elongated rear bodywork, which extends the car’s silhouette by 25 centimeters compared to the standard Chiron. This is not a purely aesthetic choice. The extended tail improves aerodynamic stability at speeds approaching 440 km/h by managing airflow with greater precision and reducing drag. The iconic C-shaped side line remains intact, framing the cabin in Bugatti’s signature two-tone treatment and reinforcing the sense that this is, above all else, a luxury object crafted for discerning owners.

Inside, the cabin retains the hand-stitched leather, polished aluminum, and bespoke material combinations that define the Chiron family. The Chiron Super Sport, however, goes further in offering a curated selection of exclusive interior finishes reserved specifically for this variant, making each example a highly individual expression of its owner’s taste. For a fashion and lifestyle audience that appreciates the intersection of artisanship and performance, the Chiron Super Sport occupies a cultural space well beyond the automobile sector.

The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport as a Collectible and Cultural Object

Production of the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport is strictly limited, with Bugatti confirming a run of just 60 units. This scarcity, combined with the model’s status as the fastest and most refined member of the Chiron family, has positioned it as one of the most coveted collector vehicles of the modern era. As of 2026, examples on the secondary market command significant premiums over their original asking price, reflecting the broader market recognition that Bugatti hyper sports cars are not merely vehicles but appreciating cultural artifacts.

The Milano Monza debut underscored this cultural dimension. Presenting the Chiron Super Sport in the Piazza del Duomo, one of Europe’s most architecturally significant public spaces, was a deliberate statement. The car was framed not as a piece of machinery but as a work of art deserving placement alongside centuries of human creative achievement. Stephan Winkelmann’s choice to personally pilot the vehicle through Milan’s historic center reinforced this narrative.

For collectors and enthusiasts operating at the intersection of fashion, luxury, and performance, the Chiron Super Sport represents a coherent philosophy: that the pursuit of excellence in any discipline, whether couture, watchmaking, or automotive engineering, produces objects that transcend their function. Bugatti has long understood this positioning, and the Chiron Super Sport may well stand as the clearest expression of that understanding within the Chiron generation.

Technical Specifications: What 1,600 PS Actually Means

Understanding the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport requires a closer examination of the engineering achievements behind its headline figures. The 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine is, in many respects, a singular achievement in combustion engine development. Producing 1,600 PS and 1,600 Nm of torque, the powerplant drives all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission designed to handle power outputs that no conventional gearbox could manage.

The 440 km/h top speed figure carries particular weight because it was not a theoretical projection. Bugatti’s predecessor record run, conducted with the Chiron in a prototype configuration and verified independently, demonstrated that this performance envelope is achievable under controlled conditions. The Chiron Super Sport’s production specification is engineered to approach this threshold while remaining fully road legal and livable as a daily grand tourer.

  • Engine: 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16
  • Output: 1,600 PS / 1,578 bhp
  • Torque: 1,600 Nm
  • Top speed: 440 km/h
  • Drivetrain: All-wheel drive, seven-speed dual-clutch transmission
  • Production run: 60 units

The suspension system has been recalibrated relative to the standard Chiron to accommodate the increased stability demands of extended high-speed cruising, while still providing the supple, composed ride quality expected of a genuine grand tourer. At velocity, active aerodynamic elements manage downforce automatically, ensuring the car remains planted without demanding constant driver input.
