Brunch is especially appealing when the setting does some of the work for you. At Tanuki River Landing, the Miami River waterfront and Japanese-inspired flavors make the weekend meal feel less like a routine brunch and more like an afternoon occasion.

Available Saturdays and Sundays from 12 to 4 p.m., Tanuki River Landing‘s new brunch menu blends familiar brunch favorites with Japanese ingredients. The result is a menu with enough variety for a long, leisurely table, whether you’re planning a quick waterfront lunch or a few hours of food and drinks with friends.
We had the pleasure of visiting Tanuki River Landing for brunch on Sunday afternoon, which gave us the perfect opportunity to experience the menu as intended. Rather than choosing just a few dishes, we sampled every item on the brunch menu, and each one impressed us with its creativity, flavor, and execution. In fact, every dish was so good that we highly recommend ordering across the menu when dining with a larger group and sharing everything family-style. It is the best way to experience the full range of flavors and allows everyone at the table to enjoy the standout dishes that make this brunch worth the visit.
O Tamago Sando is an easy place to start. Japanese egg salad, whipped cream cheese, and fresh chives are layered into toasted shokupan, creating a soft, savory sandwich with a distinctly Japanese character. The Panko French Toast takes the sweeter route, pairing berry coulis and vanilla ice cream with yuzu maple butter and a dusting of matcha.
For something more substantial, the Kimchi Shakshouka combines spiced tomato and kimchi stew with baked eggs, crispy wontons, toasted shokupan, and wasabi furikake. The Chicken Karaage & Waffles pairs Japanese fried chicken with a Belgian waffle and yuzu maple butter, while the Short Rib Eggs Benedict replaces the conventional approach with braised short rib, an onsen egg, tonkotsu sauce, and yuzu kosho hollandaise.
O Steak & Eggs keeps things more classic, serving grilled churrasco steak with home fries, two fried eggs, and chimichurri. Guests can also add caviar, uni, or foie gras for an extra touch of indulgence.
Drinks are a major part of the experience. Tanuki’s two-hour Bottomless Brunch offers a Classic tier with mimosas, bellinis and wine, while the Reserve tier adds Sake Sangria, Hugo Spritzes and Aperol Spritzes. The Sake Sangria combines junmai sake, white wine, yuzu and seasonal fruit, giving the drinks program the same Japanese-inflected direction as the food.
For groups, Tanuki also offers pitchers serving three to four, including Tanuki Sangria, Sake Sangria, mimosas and Bloody Marys. The Tanuki Sangria blends Hennessy V.S, red wine, peach, lychee, lemon and prosecco, while the Bloody Mary gets a togarashi rim.
Set along the Miami River at 1420 NW North River Drive, Tanuki River Landing gives the traditional weekend brunch formula a waterfront setting and a distinctly Japanese point of view. It is the kind of brunch that works best when there is no reason to rush: order across the menu, add a pitcher for the table, and let the afternoon stretch out by the river.
