Six of 12 styles sit on a dropped waist, up from one last season — but spring’s two-piece dressing is gone. The New York trunk show runs Nov. 5-7 on Madison Avenue.

Monique Lhuillier Fall 2027 Bridal Collection at NYBFW

Monique Lhuillier’s fall 2027 bridal collection runs to 12 styles across 21 lookbook frames, and six of those styles sit on a dropped waist. The waistline, not the skirt, carries the argument.

That is a hard turn from spring 2027, whose lookbook listed one dropped-waist style – the hand-draped Mercer sheath – among its own 12. Monique Lhuillier and her husband, Tom Bugbee, founded the company in 1996, and the fall notes send the collection back to the house’s own archive, describing the result as “a new expression of modern bridal elegance.” New York sees it first: the fall 2027 bridal trunk show runs Nov. 5-7 at the brand’s flagship at 818 Madison Avenue.

The Dropped Waist Does the Arguing

The dropped waist appears on six styles in four different skirt shapes, which is what keeps it from reading as a tic. Fairytale, a V-neck ball gown in ivory and nude French re-embroidered lace and silk satin organza, and Endless Love, an off-the-shoulder ball gown in ivory silk duchesse satin with a lace back corset, both run it under volume. Tyler, a sleeveless halter in ivory French re-embroidered lace, keeps the ball shape and strips the cover off the shoulders. Skylark drops the waist into a trumpet; Shadow drops it into an off-the-shoulder sheath in silk white Chantilly lace and Spanish tulle.

Muse is the test case. A strapless, dropped-waist collapsed ball gown in silk white duchesse satin, it is the only style in the collection whose description names no lace, no embroidery, and no tulle. With no surface to look at, the seam has to do the work, and the house’s claim about construction either holds there or it doesn’t. On the evidence of where the brand put it in the sequence, Monique Lhuillier isn’t sure either.

Lace and Veils Carry the Archive Claim

Eleven of the 12 styles use lace, embroidery, or tulle somewhere in the look, and the veils are the part worth paying attention to. Heritage pairs a strapless draped ball gown in silk white satin organza and French re-embroidered lace with a mantilla veil cut from the same tulle and lace as the gown’s border. Ryder, a V-neck slip in dusty rose crepe back satin and Chantilly lace, comes with a two-layer raw-edge rose tulle veil. In both, the veil continues the fabric story rather than serving as a finishing accessory, a genuinely useful idea for a category that usually treats the veil as an afterthought at the register.

Sabine is the collection’s most controlled passage: a strapless hand-draped gown in vintage rose Chantilly lace, worn with a gathered wrap in the same vintage rose Chantilly. One fabric, one color, two states. It is the only look where the stated technique, the color, and the cover-up all resolve into a single material decision.

Two of 12 styles leave white altogether, and both go rose – Sabine and Ryder. Spring 2027’s two exits were scarlet, in the Rouge ball gown, and noir, in the hand-draped Raven. Same ratio, much quieter register.

Fall 2027 Trades Separates for Wraps

Here is what the collection gives up. Spring 2027’s Revel appeared in three frames: a two-piece corset bodice with a mini skirt, a trumpet skirt, a peplum overcoat, puff sleeves, and a detachable structured ball skirt in ivory silk duchesse satin. The fall 2027 lookbook lists no two-piece style and no detachable component. Six styles come with a coordinating wrap, veil, train or neck bow – Sabine, Heritage, Ryder, Skylark, Frolic and Rockwell – and all of those come off without changing the dress underneath.

That matters commercially at this price tier. The average U.S. wedding dress cost about $2,100 in The Knot’s 2026 Real Weddings Study, which surveyed 10,474 U.S. couples married in 2025; the study’s highest budget tier averaged roughly $3,200 on the gown alone. Designer bridal sells well above both figures, and a buyer at that level has been trained by three or four seasons of convertible dressing to ask what else the dress does after the ceremony. Spring answered that question with a second saia. Fall answers it with a wrap.

The edit has a second problem. Frames 10 through 13 run four repeats back-to-back – Tyler Ryder, Endless Love, Skylark – while Muse, Frolic, and Shadow get one frame each. The lookbook gives its most decorated ball gowns double exposure and its plainest, most modern shapes a single look, which is the opposite of what the stated argument about construction would suggest.

Madison Avenue Gets the First Appointment

The brand lists eight fall 2027 bridal trunk shows as of Oct. 15, 2026, starting with its own flagships: Nova Iorque Nov. 5-7, Los Angeles Nov. 19-21 at 8485 Melrose Place, London Nov. 26-28 at 69 South Audley Street. Five stockist dates follow: Chic Parisien in Coral Gables, Florida, Oct. 22-24; Ultimate Bride in Chicago Nov. 12-14; L’elite Bridal in Boston Dec. 3-6; Warren Barron Bridal in Dallas Dec. 10-12; and Carine’s Bridal Atelier in Washington Dec. 17-19. Monique Lhuillier does not publish fall 2027 bridal prices on its site; they quote them by appointment.

One quiet signal in the credits: four fall styles carry the Monique Lhuillier Platinum Collection label – Fairytale, Endless Love, Tyler, and Escapade – where the spring 2027 bridal lookbook labeled all 12 of its styles Signature. The brand doesn’t explain the difference between the two lines on either page, which makes the shift easy to miss and worth asking about at the Madison Avenue appointment.

The waist is a real idea, argued across four skirt shapes and proved by Muse, which has nothing else to hide behind. What the collection surrenders is the second look. Spring sold a bride two outfits out of one purchase; fall sells her one dress and something to put over it.
