RICK OWENS

RICK OWENS presents on the official Paris calendar as one of fashion’s most singular and influential auteurs. The American designer, originally from Porterville, California, moved to Paris in 2003 after building an early reputation in Los Angeles for what he termed “glunge” — glamorous grunge — before developing the fuller, now-iconic aesthetic that has defined his house ever since: draped, monastic, predominantly dark silhouettes; dramatic, elongated proportion; and a design vocabulary drawing equally on brutalist architecture, goth subculture, and a deep personal interest in the body’s raw physicality.

Owens runs his house alongside his wife and longtime creative partner Michèle Lamy, and the two have become as much a part of the brand’s mythology as the clothes themselves — front-row fixtures at other designers’ shows and cultural figures in their own right, including a widely reported incident in which they were turned away from Beijing’s Forbidden City for their dramatic personal style. Rick Owens shows have become known for pushing runway theatricality to genuine extremes, including a widely discussed collection built around exposed male genitalia, and the house has separately built one of streetwear’s most coveted sneaker lines, the Geobasket, alongside a considerable furniture and lighting design practice.

For S/S 2027, RICK OWENS presents on the official schedule continuing over two decades of building one of fashion’s most uncompromising and instantly recognizable independent visions.
