OTTOLINGER

OTTOLINGER brings its punk-inflected, deconstructive Berlin sensibility to Friday’s Paris runway. Founded in 2016 by Swiss-born designers Christa Bösch and Cosima Gadient, who met while studying at the Basel School of Design, the label has built its reputation on a genuinely confrontational approach to tailoring — slashed and manipulated fabric, exposed seams, intricate strap fastenings, and skin-baring cutouts that the designers describe as an attempt to question conventional ideas of what is considered flattering on a woman’s body.

Bösch and Gadient have described their collections as balancing destruction and transformation in equal measure, producing garments that read as simultaneously raw and refined, sensual and defiant. The label has drawn a devoted following that includes Dua Lipa and Nicki Minaj, and was named a semi-finalist for the 2018 LVMH Prize early in its run. Ottolinger has increasingly foregrounded sustainability in its production, working to source more organic materials and keep the bulk of its manufacturing within Europe to limit its environmental footprint, operating as an independent design and research studio spanning fashion, material innovation, and creative direction from its Berlin base.

For S/S 2027, OTTOLINGER presents on the official Paris runway continuing its now decade-long project of building genuine confidence and freedom into clothing engineered specifically to break convention rather than flatter it.
