John Richmond

John Richmond is a British designer who emerged from the London club culture of the late 1970s and 1980s and whose label has operated continuously for four decades. Richmond studied at Kingston Polytechnic and Saint Martin’s School of Art and founded his first label in 1982 before establishing his own name in 1984. His work is associated with the fusion of streetwear and sharp tailoring that defined British fashion of that era — graphic print, leather, denim and a rock-and-roll sensibility applied to well-cut pieces — and the brand expanded into a substantial international business through the 1990s and 2000s, particularly in Europe and Asia, spanning mainline, diffusion, denim and accessories.

Richmond appears twice on the SS27 London calendar: a menswear/womenswear catwalk on Saturday 19 September at 12:00, and this eight-hour appointment window, 10:30–18:30 on Sunday 20 September, classified MW/WW and invitation only. Appointment showings allow press and buyers to work through the collection in detail, complementing the visibility of the previous day’s catwalk. No venue is published.
