Pantofola d’Oro Launches Limited Edition Capsule of 80s and 90s Football Shirts

An iconic collection and an elegant tribute to Italian football: five historic jerseys available in New York and on the brand’s online shop.
June 21, 2024 – In the heart of Italy, where football is much more than just a sport, Pantofola d’Oro continues to write its legendary story. With the first drop of a series of four, the brand launches a collection of jerseys inspired by the iconic kits of the 80s and 90s, celebrating the glorious past of Italian football with a touch of modern elegance.

This initial release, consisting of five jerseys, pays homage to the colors of some of the most beloved teams in Italy: Venezia, Inter, Roma, Sampdoria, and Verona. Each jersey is a masterpiece of design, blending the nostalgia of retro kits with the high-quality craftsmanship that has always distinguished Pantofola d’Oro.
“Each jersey is designed to be a symbol of pride and passion, to be worn both on and off the field,” said Kim Williams, CEO of Pantofola d’Oro. The jerseys, must-haves for collectors and football fashion enthusiasts, will be produced initially in limited numbers and will be available starting in July exclusively at the New York store, located at 663 Fifth Avenue, and on the brand’s official website.
Pantofola d’Oro does not stop at nostalgic celebration: this first drop is just the beginning of a series that will see three more releases, each dedicated to five new Italian teams, for a total of twenty jerseys that promise to capture the hearts of fans and fashion enthusiasts alike. Designed to be worn not only in stadiums but also in everyday life, paired with jeans, sneakers, and modern accessories, they demonstrate how football style can be integrated into contemporary fashion. A journey through time that continues to make generations of fans dream, uniting past and present in a perfect blend of passion and fashion. Wearing a Pantofola d’Oro jersey means embracing a piece of history and carrying it with pride and style.

Pantofola d’Oro:
In the small family workshop on Via della Fortezza in the heart of the old town of Ascoli Piceno, Emidio Lazzarini worked as a cobbler, applying the teachings of his father and grandfather, craftsmen in Ascoli since 1886. In the 1940s, Emidio, after finishing work, dedicated himself to wrestling, a sport that forced him to wear particularly uncomfortable and unsuitable shoes. So he decided to make his own shoes, soft and enveloping, practically perfect. Soon, Lazzarini realized that his shoes could also be useful to other athletes, so he contacted the local football team, Ascoli, and success was immediate. Over time, the shoe was progressively refined and offered to players of the most prestigious teams. It was worn by three greats of Real Madrid, Muller, Puskas, and Di Stefano. In the 60s, Pantofola d’Oro could be found on all playing fields. It became the ideal tool for the creativity of playmakers like Sivori and Rivera, the cunning of strikers like Mazzola, and the vigor and tenacity of champions like Riva, Haller, Burgnich, and Amarildo. Yascin, the legendary goalkeeper of the Soviet national team, entrusted his powerful size 47 feet to the “Pantofola.” In the 70s, the same shoes were worn by Capello, Conti, Morini, Pruzzo, and Spinosi, but especially by Roberto Bettega, who won seven championships in his career. In the 80s, they were worn by three great Brazilians, Falcao, Cerezo, and Dirceu. For South America, Pantofola d’Oro found its African ambassador in Roger Milla. In the 90s, it accompanied the successes of Roberto Mancini, and in 2000 a new era began for Pantofola d’Oro, a revival of a company that wants to bring back to the football fields the values linked to tradition, the choice of quality raw materials, handmade Made in Italy, and the care in handling real and natural leather. Is it a sign of football returning to true passions? Perhaps. It is certainly the return of Pantofola d’Oro.
