H&M 스튜디오 2026 봄 컬렉션: 중심에서 벗어난 예술

The season’s most quietly radical high-street collection isn’t chasing perfection – it’s deliberately, beautifully escaping it.

There is something quietly radical about a brand choosing weirdness over polish at the precise moment when the fashion industry is most saturated with algorithmic perfection.

H&M Studio’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection debuted during London Fashion Week inside 14 Cavendish, an 18th-century mansion stripped back to peeling paint walls. The setting was not accidental. Raw surfaces, imperfect beauty, and a defiant decay-as-grandeur spirit framed what is perhaps the Studio line’s most conceptually assured season since its 2013 launch.

The collection’s guiding intelligence comes directly from womenswear designer Ann-Sofie Johansson, who anchored the entire season in a single, purposeful word: eccentricity.

“Maybe everything is becoming a little too perfect. If you look at what AI has done, a lot of things look like they have an AI filter – and we wanted to step away from that.” – Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M Studio

Johansson cited the cult 1975 documentary Grey Gardens and its subjects – Edie Bouvier Beale and her mother Edith – as the collection’s central reference. Two women who dressed entirely for themselves, entirely on their own terms, and in doing so created an involuntary fashion legend. “They use their clothes in a very refreshing way,” Johansson noted.

Grey Gardens has long served as fashion’s shorthand for aristocratic self-determination dressed up as beautiful disorder. That the Studio team reached for it in 2026 – explicitly as a counter-argument to AI-generated sameness – reveals a design intelligence that lifts this collection far above seasonal trend-response.

WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU SHOP

  • Peplum Leather Jacket – £380
A bold funnel collar and structured peplum hem. The collection’s investment anchor. Holds its own against pieces at three times the price.
  • Funnel-Neck Leather Bomber
Adjustable side tabs allow the silhouette to shift between sculpted and relaxed. One of the season’s most immediately wearable statements.
  • Check Drop-Neck Coat
An elongated drop neckline transforms a classic coat into something closer to a robe – architecturally strange, entirely the point.
  • Mint Mesh Skirt
Trimmed with tiny black bows and lingerie-grade elastic. Intimacy sewn into public dressing – the season’s most precise metaphor made literal.
  • Painted Denim
Jeans treated to match the pale pink knitwear, creating tonal looks that feel handmade rather than manufactured.
  • Customizable Pleated Pants
Designed to be adjusted to fit by the wearer. The collection’s most direct expression of its thesis: clothes as interpretation, not instruction.

“It’s about the details of an individual. A little tweak, a little weirdness – a wackiness almost.” – Ann-Sofie Johansson

THE STUDIO ARCHITECTURE: TWO DROPS, ONE VISION

Studio Essentials – Released February 5, fronted by model Bibi Breslin, and built around ’90s minimalism with subtle athletic undercurrents. A double-breasted wool blazer with raw-edged seams and a shrunken cashmere cardigan with a double placket anchor the capsule. These are the foundation garments – quiet, precise, built to last.

Studio Main Collection – Available from March 5 in selected stores and online. Conceptually bolder, proportionally disrupted, and designed to layer over — and productively collide with — the Essentials pieces. The staggered release is not a marketing strategy. It is a philosophy about how a wardrobe should be built.

Johansson described the Studio identity as a tension that sharpens each season: “It’s always femininity and masculinity, hard and soft – something more effortless, and cooler.” Spring 2026 doesn’t resolve that tension. It makes it the organizing energy of the collection.

At £380 for the leather jacket and considerably less for knitwear, denim, and tailoring, Studio remains genuinely accessible given the luxury sensibility it channels. That combination – real design intent at an approachable price – remains the line’s sharpest competitive advantage, and one that neither the fast-fashion market nor the true 럭셔리 market can easily replicate.

The Grey Gardens citation isn’t nostalgia. It is a philosophical position: dress on your own terms, wear clothes that reward a second look, allow yourself to appear slightly, beautifully unresolved. In a market flooded with AI-assisted sameness, that is not a small thing to say.
