Some shows announce themselves. VERDAVAINNE’s Spring 2027 presentation arrived already in full voice – with a room to match
The luxury womenswear label founded by designer Cyril Verdavainne staged its latest runway during ニューヨーク・ファッション・ウィーク at Cipriani Wall Street. The collection came to life inside the landmark’s private restaurant before extending onto its expansive balcony, framed by iconic granite columns. Grandeur on both sides of the doorway, in other words – a dramatic backdrop for clothes built to hold their own against it.
A Signature Language, Reintroduced
Bold color, distinctive prints and confident silhouettes defined the season. For Spring 2027, ヴェルダヴァイン continued to explore its signature language of print, color and sculptural form, introducing fresh interpretations of the house’s distinctive aesthetic. The collection moved effortlessly between statement-making looks and refined, sophisticated silhouettes, balancing drama with the effortless glamour that has become synonymous with the brand.
Then it moved into VERDAVAINNE’s signature terrain: original hand-painted florals rendered at dramatic proportions.
A high-low gown in golden yellow, splashed with oversized blue florals, cut a fresh silhouette with its front slit and back train. A multicolor floral ball skirt, anchored by a crisp white pleated halter bodice and finished with a coordinating floral top-handle bag, brought painterly romance to a voluminous silhouette. Chartreuse corded lace layered over a lilac ground offered a graphic counterpoint, its sculptural robe trailing the length of the gown.
The show closed as it began, in red: a one-shouldered taffeta ballgown, its one-shoulder bodice gathered into soft ruching above a sweeping, voluminous skirt. Together, the looks made the house’s case plainly – mastery of print, color and silhouette.
“A Woman in Full Bloom”
Verdavainne describes the woman he had in mind as someone entirely at home in what she is wearing.
“This collection is about a woman in full bloom, confident in color, at ease in her own silhouette,” he said. “I wanted every print to feel like it was painted just for her and every waist to feel like it was cinched by hand. That’s the difference between a dress and a VERDAVAINNE.”
That distinction lives in the details – the ones he returns to season after season because they are essential elements of the brand’s DNA. “This season is our most floral yet,” Verdavainne said. “Original prints, sashes, bows, that Trapunto stitch we’re known for, all in colors that feel alive.”
He is equally clear about who the clothes are for. “The American woman doesn’t want to disappear into a dress,” he said. “She wants a dress that moves with her, that photographs beautifully, that makes her feel like the best version of herself the moment she walks in the room. That’s what Spring 2027 is built for.”
