Sabyasachi

Sabyasachi is an Indian luxury fashion brand founded in 1999 by designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee (born February 23, 1974, Kolkata, West Bengal, India). Since 1999, Mukherjee has sold designer merchandise under the Sabyasachi label, becoming one of India’s most internationally recognized fashion designers. He is an Associate Designer Member of the Fashion Design Council of India and the youngest board member of the National Museum of Indian Cinema.

Sabyasachi made his NYFW debut with his Spring/Summer 2007 collection, earning critical acclaim. After more than a decade away from the New York schedule, he returned with the “Snail” collection – a homage to slow luxury and Indian artisanal heritage – coinciding with the launch of his first international flagship store in New York (“NAMASTE NEW YORK”), a 5,800 sq ft space that Paper Magazine branded “India’s most international superstar.” In 2021, Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited acquired a 51% stake in the brand. Sabyasachi became the first Indian designer to walk the red carpet at the Met Gala, dressing Alia Bhatt. For SS27, Sabyasachi makes its debut on the official NYFW schedule as a new addition.
