CHLOÉ opens Thursday’s programme as one of the founding houses of French luxury ready-to-wear. Founded by Gaby Aghion in 1952, Chloé was among the first Paris houses to treat prêt-à-porter as a category worthy of the same artistic ambition as couture, building a reputation over subsequent decades for romantic, feminine, effortlessly Parisian design. The house’s design chair has passed through an extraordinary run of major names, including Karl Lagerfeld across two separate tenures, Stella McCartney, Phoebe Philo, and Clare Waight Keller, each leaving a distinct mark on the brand’s now iconic bohemian-luxury identity. 

Chloé has been under the creative direction of Chemena Kamali since 2023, whose tenure has been widely credited with a dramatic commercial and critical revival of the house, returning explicitly to the free-spirited, sensual 1970s aesthetic associated with the label’s most celebrated historical period under designers like Karl Lagerfeld. Kamali’s collections — sheer blouses, fringe, wide-leg trousers, statement belts — have been praised for capturing exactly the kind of easy, bohemian glamour that first made Chloé a defining name in Paris ready-to-wear, part of the Richemont group’s portfolio of luxury houses. 

For S/S 2027, CHLOÉ opens Thursday’s runway continuing Kamali’s revival of the house’s founding spirit — proof that a design language built on romance and ease can remain just as commercially and critically vital more than seven decades after Gaby Aghion first proposed it.
