CECILIE BAHNSEN brings her distinctively romantic, sculptural Danish design language to the Paris runway. The Copenhagen-based designer studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and Central Saint Martins before launching her eponymous house in 2015, building a design signature instantly recognizable for its voluminous, cloud-like silhouettes rendered in matte, textured fabrics — heavy cotton poplin, techno-organza, and jacquard — that give her dresses a sculptural presence closer to origami than conventional draping. 

Bahnsen’s work sits at a distinctive intersection of romanticism and rigor: her puffed sleeves, exaggerated collars, and generous, ballooning volumes read as fairy-tale in silhouette but are engineered with genuine technical precision, developed in close collaboration with specialist Japanese textile mills. The house has become a favorite among a generation of customers and stylists drawn to maximalist femininity that avoids overt sexualization in favor of texture, proportion, and craft, and Bahnsen has built her house as part of the broader wave of Copenhagen-based designers — alongside labels like Ganni and Stine Goya — that have helped establish Scandinavian fashion as a genuine creative force well beyond its traditional minimalist reputation. 

For S/S 2027, CECILIE BAHNSEN presents on the official Paris schedule continuing her now decade-long project of proving that volume and softness can carry as much conceptual weight and technical ambition as harder-edged, more minimalist design.
