The female-owned, sustainable womenswear label, Wild Rose and Sparrow, made a stunning return to the Pekan Mode Paris scene with its highly anticipated Spring-Summer 2025 collection. Known for its unique blend of elegance and sustainability, the Montreal-based brand, co-founded by Ariana Dancu, captivated audiences with a ballet-core-themed runway show titled “Nuit au Ballet.”
Held at the historic Théâtre du Gymnase Marie Bell, a venue that boasts over 200 years of cultural significance, the event highlighted Wild Rose & Sparrow’s dedication to fearless self-expression and feminine creativity. The show opened with a live performance by Académie Danse Paris, setting the tone for a mesmerizing three-act format. Each act was inspired by classic ballets, Coppélia, La Sylphide, Dan A Midsummer Night’s Dream, bringing timeless art forms to life through fashion.
Ariana Dancu, the co-founder and head designer, emphasized how deeply ballet is rooted in the brand’s identity:
Our SS25 collection ‘Nuit au Ballet’ is inspired by our love for ballet, a facet that has been deeply rooted in our brand’s identity. Our collection is divided into three ‘Acts’, each one inspired by a different ballet that we’ve loved forever: ‘Coppélia’, ‘La Sylphide’, and ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’. The pieces in each Act pay homage to these ballets and feature layers of tulle in Romantic Style tutus, intricate laced corsets, and heavily embroidered and sequined gowns, bringing these ballets to life in our vision.
The SS25 collection showcased 20 distinct styles, each intricately designed to capture the elegance and strength of femininity. The runway’s romantic atmosphere was enhanced by the luxurious textures and attention to detail in every piece, from the delicate use of tulle to the hand-embroidered embellishments.
The front row was a star-studded affair, with an exclusive guest list that included high-profile influencers and fashion icons such as, Tamara Kalinic, Hayley Hasselhoff, Leanne Ansar, Marie-Lou Nurk, Luisa Villafane, Mun Jihu, Kim Sung-cheol, Rami Aly-Zein, Elena Shlaikova, Elys Hutchinson, Elise Zecevic. These VIP guests were among the first to experience the collection, which expertly fused sustainable practices with a couture sensibility.
