After 6 months of renovations, the Maison Margiela boutique in Milan is finally ready. Created in accordance with the artistic conception of the brand, John Galliano, the boutique features chalky tones and deconstructive themes.
Maison Margiela has always been known for its innovative and playful designs. Today, it is one of the most respected fashion houses in the world. Whether it’s a new collection, a pop-up store, or an art installation, Maison Margiela never fails to impress the press and the public.
The History of Maison Margiela
Maison Margiela is a French fashion house founded in 1988 by Belgian designer Martin Margiela. The label originally gained recognition for its avant-garde designs and anti-fashion aesthetic but has since evolved into a luxury brand with a more refined aesthetic.
The first Maison Margiela collection was shown during Paris Fashion Week in 1989, and it caused quite a stir. The designs were experimental and unconventional, and they pushed the boundaries of fashion. This avant-garde approach to design would become the hallmark of the Maison Margiela label.
The Design and Architecture of the Boutique
नई मैसन मार्जीला boutique in Milan’s Fashion District has finally been fully renovated, following a concept conceived by the brand’s creative director John Galliano.
It sits on two floors, with 300 meters of total floor space – and while there’s a lot more room to show off the latest fashions and accessories, at heart it remains the same progressive brand that we’ve become accustomed to over the past six months of renovations.
The boutique stands out by blending the legendary iconoclasm of the company with both its interior and exterior aesthetics.
The abstract graphics that line the building are representative of what the brand calls “appropriating the inappropriate.” The ground floor of the store sells shoes, jewelry, leather goods and more. The upper floors are dedicated to clothing collections.
The new store concept represents a major departure from Maison Margiela’s previous boutiques, which were much more minimalistic in both their design and overall aesthetic.
The décortiqué technique is applied to shelves, display tables, and carved seats made of stained travertine, whose natural indentations are filled with epoxy resin to contrast with the white color.
The ceilings and dressing rooms, on the other hand, are covered with several layers of hand-brushed dark green paint that creates a deep sheen. This is echoed in the Japanese lacquer cabinets.
To celebrate its re-opening, Maison Margiela has decided to host the pre-launch of its latest collaboration with Reebok, the TZ Pump.

Maison Margiela has already reached 85 stores and three new boutiques in Dallas, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. These new stores will be known as the “boutique factory,” describing it as a “concept that redefined the Maison Margiela experience.”
