Frankies Bikinis and Barefoot Dreams will release Barefoot Dreams एक्स फ्रेंकीज़ बिकिनीज़, a loungewear collection cut in Barefoot Dreams’ CozyChic knits, on Oct. 21 at 9 a.m. PDT on both brands’ websites, the companies said Wednesday.

It’s a swimwear label borrowing a blanket company’s fabric. Frankies Bikinis, founded in Malibu in 2012 by Francesca Aiello and her mother, Mimi, lists Bella Hadid, Pamela Anderson, सिडनी स्वेनी and Gigi Hadid among its past collaborators. Barefoot Dreams, founded in Malibu in 1994, brings a 32-year-old knit and its best-known robe.

Four Colorways, Two CozyChic Knits

The Barefoot Dreams x Frankies Bikinis collection centers on matching sets. Zip-up hoodies and sweaters come with coordinated lounge pants; ponchos pair with tanks and low-rise shorts. The lineup also includes Barefoot Dreams’ CozyChic Hooded Robe and a headscarf, in Pearl, Black, Cotton Candy, and Ocean Mist.

Barefoot Dreams owns the fabric story. According to the company, CozyChic is 100 percent polyester and suited to cooler weather, while CozyChic Lite is a lighter nylon-rayon blend meant for year-round wear. Barefoot Dreams says all of its knits are machine washable, which counts for something in a piece designed to go over a wet बिकिनी.

That’s a different proposition from the cashmere Frankies Bikinis sells under its own label. Frankies’ contribution is the cut: the brands describe the pieces as Frankies’ best-selling silhouettes, though the announcement doesn’t name which ones.

A Malibu Pairing Years in the Making

The two companies call the project years in the making and point to shared Malibu roots. Aiello, Frankies’ founder and chief creative officer, said she wanted Barefoot Dreams’ qualities “woven in while still feeling like Frankies.”

Barefoot Dreams owner Stan Cook framed it as personal. “Having known Francesca for years, I’ve watched her build something truly special,” he said.

Annette Cook started Barefoot Dreams as a line of children’s products; Stan Cook built it into the company it is now, according to its own history. It sells blankets, robes and loungewear through resorts, spas and department stores, runs licensed lines with Disney, Major League Baseball, the NBA and Team USA, and opened its first store in Malibu in the summer of 2020, with a second Malibu location following in 2021.

Where to Buy It in New York

The release lists only the two brand websites. It doesn’t say whether the collection will reach Frankies Bikinis’ two Manhattan stores, at 112 Mercer St. in SoHo and 379 Bleecker St. in the West Village. Frankies’ wholesale accounts include Bloomingdale’s and Kith, according to the brand, but it didn’t name any stockists for the collaboration.

On paper, this is more Barefoot Dreams’ collection than Frankies’. The hero piece is Barefoot’s robe and both fabrics are Barefoot’s, which leaves the low-rise shorts and tanks as the clearest place for the swim label’s proportions to show.

के लिए न्यूयॉर्क shoppers, the 9 a.m. Pacific drop lands at noon.
