Public School New York

Public School is a New York story. Founded in 2008 by designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne — both born and raised in New York City — the brand takes its name from their experiences in the city’s public school system, where clothing was a key marker of identity. Chow grew up in Queens and studied communications at NYU; Osborne was raised in Brooklyn. Both worked at Sean John before meeting and launching Public School.

The brand redefines the landscape for menswear and womenswear by blending high and low references from fashion, music, and art. Chow and Osborne design and manufacture their full range in New York, incorporating fabric from the best Italian, Japanese, and American mills. In 2010, Public School was the sole menswear brand chosen by the CFDA for its inaugural Fashion Incubator program. In June 2013, the brand won the CFDA Swarovski Award for Menswear, and in November 2013, it won the prestigious CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. In 2015, the duo was appointed creative directors of DKNY, presenting their first collection at NYFW that September before stepping down in 2017.

Public School is returning to NYFW this season after a period focused on direct-to-consumer channels.
