CASABLANCA
CASABLANCA presents its vibrant, après-sport luxury on Friday’s runway. Founded in 2018 by Paris-born designer Charaf Tajer, whose Moroccan immigrant parents met in a textile workshop in the city the brand is named for, the house launched with a modest $3,000 budget after Tajer’s earlier work co-founding streetwear label Pigalle and running the Le Pompon nightlife scene in Paris — experience that shaped his eventual vision of a genuinely global, jet-set luxury wardrobe.
Casablanca’s identity blends resort-inspired tailoring, hand-painted and vividly colorful prints, silk shirting, and terrycloth loungewear into what Tajer has described as a vintage variation on Ralph Lauren’s classic American sportswear — old-world elegance filtered through his own French-Moroccan, architecturally trained eye. The house was a finalist for the 2020 LVMH Prize, has collaborated with New Balance, Bulgari, and British luggage house Globetrotter, and built an early, organic following among Los Angeles tastemakers including Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner. Tajer has also used the brand’s platform for activism, notably a Fall/Winter 2023 menswear show built around raising awareness of the war in Syria, staged alongside Syrian activist Yusra Mardini.
For S/S 2027, CASABLANCA presents on the official calendar continuing its now-signature blend of leisure, heritage, and global travel — a house built explicitly around the memory of two parents meeting in a Moroccan sewing workshop.
