Apreamare‘s history begins in 1849, when Giovanni Aprea started building boats by hand for Sorrento’s fishermen, both rowing and sailing vessels. Over the years, the shipyard has evolved that artisanal tradition into a respected collection of yachts, drawing inspiration from the gozzo and combining seafaring tradition with modern comfort. The Gozzo line itself saw a significant transformation when it returned in the early 2020s, updating the classic design for today’s discerning clientele. Now, with the Gozzo 42, Apreamare further develops that vision, placing this model at the core of its expanding fleet.
A collaborative triumph lies at the core of this launch. Cataldo Aprea lent his deep familial insight, while Marco Casali of Too Design shaped the exterior styling and Marco’s vision brought a sportier, more dynamic edge. Naval architecture came from Umberto Tagliavini of Marine Design, working in close harmony with the shipyard’s technical office. The result is a boat that feels unmistakably Apreamare—rooted in tradition, yet engineered for the present.
Visually, the Gozzo 42 introduces a fresh formal language. The hull, deckhouse, and windows have been completely reimagined, creating a sleeker, more athletic silhouette that cuts a confident figure on the water. A streamlined hardtop anchors the profile, ready to accept an optional glass windscreen that enhances comfort whether slicing through chop or idling in a secluded cove. The helm station has been sculpted for better ergonomics, with the possibility of air conditioning adding another layer of effortless command.
Practical innovation runs just as deep. Integrated air inlets improve engine-room cooling, while a large electrically operated door grants easy maintenance access. A dedicated technical compartment in the stern neatly houses mooring equipment, keeping the living spaces uncluttered.
What truly distinguishes the Gozzo 42 is its exceptional onboard livability. In the cockpit, a generous 200-centimetre sunpad sits beside a C-shaped sofa that comfortably accommodates up to eight guests. Forward, another social zone offers a sunpad flanked by facing sofas—an intimate retreat for conversation or quiet contemplation. Both areas can be shaded by awnings supported by carbon-fibre poles attached to the T-Top structure, turning the brightest Mediterranean afternoons into moments of effortless ease.
The customizable wet bar reflects the owner’s mode de vie, with options for twin 85-litre refrigerators, an ice maker, barbecue, grill, or induction hobs, plus ample storage for tableware. Aft, an expansive nearly six-square-metre swim platform features a retractable ladder and tender lift system, completing a seamless connection to the sea.
Below deck, natural light floods the interiors through thoughtfully placed hull and deck windows. The master cabin forms part of an open-plan layout but can be fully enclosed for privacy, complete with full-height wardrobes and abundant storage. An optional second cabin in the stern provides two generous berths (200 cm by 95 cm) with tall storage units along the bulkhead, making the Gozzo 42 remarkably accommodating for its size.
At sea, performance matches the aesthetic promise. The variable-geometry hull with skegs supports either traditional shaft drives or Volvo Penta IPS propulsion. Owners can choose twin Volvo Penta D6 engines rated at 380 hp or 480 hp, or IPS units rated at 500 hp or 600 hp, delivering top speeds of 27 to 36 knots and comfortable cruising between 22 and 27 knots. A substantial 1,200-litre fuel capacity—one of the largest in class—ensures impressive range for extended coastal explorations.
Measuring 12.80 metres in length overall with a 4.20-metre beam, the Gozzo 42 accommodates up to 14 people while maintaining the poise and safety expected of an Apreamare yacht.
