VICTORIA BECKHAM
VICTORIA BECKHAM closes Friday’s programme as one of the more improbable and ultimately successful designer transitions in recent fashion history. The British designer, who first achieved global fame as a member of the Spice Girls before working as a model and reality television figure, launched her eponymous fashion label in 2008, initially facing considerable industry skepticism about a pop star’s ability to be taken seriously as a genuine designer.
Beckham has since built a design signature around sharp, body-conscious tailoring and column dresses that emphasize a controlled, minimalist silhouette — a design language she has developed with growing critical respect over more than fifteen years, winning the British Fashion Council’s Designer Brand of the Year award and steadily shifting industry perception of her house from celebrity vanity project to a genuinely well-regarded contemporary label. The brand has expanded into a full beauty line alongside its ready-to-wear, and Beckham has spoken publicly about the difficult early years of proving her design credentials to a skeptical press and retail industry.
For S/S 2027, VICTORIA BECKHAM closes Friday’s runway continuing a nearly two-decade project of demonstrating that her house’s design discipline — precise tailoring built for a modern, working woman’s body — was never a passing celebrity experiment but a genuine, sustained design practice.
