Taus

Taus is a Copenhagen-based ready-to-wear and demi-couture studio founded in 2024 by Freyja Taus and Juho Lehiö. Guided by a belief in craftsmanship and considered pace, Taus approaches clothing as an ongoing conversation — between past and present, body and silhouette, maker and wearer. Each garment emerges from this dialogue, shaped by curiosity about identity, class, and the ritual of dressing. The collections are seen through the lens of queer identity and the complexities of class, themes central to the work of both founders.

The brand’s practice favours made-to-order and bespoke creations, honouring craft while minimizing waste. For Taus, sustainability is not a label or a slogan but a rhythm — a way of moving through the studio and the world, attentive to materials, people, and process. Upcycling is a vital part of the Taus identity: the designers breathe new life into forgotten textiles and garments, transforming them into something renewed. When new materials are required, the brand works with deadstock fabrics, ensuring that resourcefulness remains central to every decision.

Taus has been awarded the CPHFW NEWTALENT One to Watch recognition for the second consecutive season, having first received the designation for SS26. This recognition spotlight is granted to designers with exceptional creative vision and strong potential, offering a free slot on the official show and presentation schedule alongside extensive communication support from Copenhagen Fashion Week.

While based in Copenhagen, both designers acknowledge that the city’s influence appears less in the brand’s visual identity and more in its design approach. Denmark’s commitment to sustainability has shaped Taus’s ethos from beginning to end, while Lehiö’s Helsinki roots keep Finland central to their inspiration. The brand’s debut at CPHFW SS26 was presented in presentation format, and for AW26 it moved to a runway show. For SS27, Taus returns with a presentation, continuing to build its universe of emotionally charged, craft-driven garments.
