DRIES VAN NOTEN presents on the Paris schedule as one of the most distinguished names to emerge from the influential “Antwerp Six” generation of Belgian designers. Van Noten founded his eponymous house in 1986 after graduating from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, building a reputation over four decades for richly patterned, texturally complex, and unapologetically unconventional ready-to-wear that consistently prioritized print, color, and fabric innovation over overt logo branding or seasonal trend-chasing. 

Van Noten stepped down as creative director of his own house in 2023 after selling a majority stake to Puig several years earlier, ending a remarkable run in which he remained both founder and sole designer for nearly forty years — an unusually long and singular tenure in an industry defined by rapid creative-director turnover. Since his departure, the house has continued under new creative leadership while working to preserve the material curiosity and layered, maximalist eclecticism that made Van Noten’s own tenure one of the most consistently respected in contemporary fashion, admired as much by other designers as by the press and retail. 

For S/S 2027, DRIES VAN NOTEN presents on the official calendar continuing to build on the founder’s now-institutional legacy of treating textile and pattern as the primary creative language of a collection, rather than silhouette alone.
