The 78th Emmy Awards are just around the corner, airing live coast-to-coast on Monday, September 14 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT from the Peacock Theater at L.A. LIVE on NBC and streaming on Peacock. Emmy Award winner Mariska Hargitay will host the ceremony. The Creative Arts Emmy Awards took place earlier this month on September 5 and 6.
This year’s slate of nominees spans everything from intimate character-driven comedies and satires to fantasy, thrillers, and costume dramas. Nominated performers include Steve Carell (Rooster), Jamie Lee Curtis (The Bear), Harrison Ford (Shrinking), Lisa Kudrow (The Comeback), Gary Oldman (Slow Horses) and Michelle Pfeiffer (Margo’s Got Money Troubles), alongside breakout new faces such as Taylor Dearden (The Pitt), Chase Infiniti (The Testaments), Sarah Pidgeon (Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette) and Connor Storrie (Saturday Night Live).
Hacks holds the record for the most nominations in a single year in the Comedy category with 24 (the previous record was jointly held in 2025 by The Studio and in 2024 by The Bear, each with 23), while The Pitt leads the Drama category with 25 nominations this year.
Twenty-eight first-time performer nominees appear across all performer categories this year, including Brittany Allen, Tal Anderson, Patrick Ball, Leslie Bibb, Taylor Dearden, Dale Dickey, Fiona Dourif, Ernest Harden Jr., Gerran Howell, Charlie Hunnam, Chase Infiniti, Tina Ivlev, Jeff Kober, Hamish Linklater, Charles Melton, Sepideh Moafi, Carey Mulligan, Kate O’Flynn, Sarah Pidgeon, Miriam Shor, Megan Stalter, Connor Storrie, Joy Sunday, Carlos-Manuel Vesga, Matt Vogel, Lauren Weedman, Karolina Wydra and Youn Yuh-Jung.
Several multi-hyphenate talents picked up multiple nominations this year for their work as performers, writers, directors, and producers. Jason Bateman leads with four nominations (performance and directing for Black Rabbit, performance and producing for DTF St. Louis). Three-nomination honorees include Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary), Paul W. Downs (Hacks), Matthew Rhys (Widow’s Bay and The Beast In Me), Jason Segel (Shrinking and Shrinking: In It Together), Martin Short (Only Murders In The Building and Match Game) and Noah Wyle (The Pitt).
Other performers with multiple nominations include Sterling K. Brown (Paradise), Claire Danes (The Beast In Me), Colman Domingo (The Four Seasons and Euphoria), Elle Fanning and Dakota Fanning (Margo’s Got Money Troubles), David Harbour (DTF St. Louis), Oscar Isaac and Charles Melton (Beef), Jimmy Kimmel (Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire), Lisa Kudrow (The Comeback), Laurie Metcalf (Monster: The Ed Gein Story and Hacks), Carey Mulligan (Beef), Nick Offerman (Margo’s Got Money Troubles and Death By Lightning), Michelle Pfeiffer (Margo’s Got Money Troubles), Keri Russell (The Diplomat) and Sarah Snook (All Her Fault).
