CHRISTOPHER ESBER
CHRISTOPHER ESBER presents his sculptural, sensuality-driven ready-to-wear on Tuesday’s runway. The Sydney-based designer graduated from the city’s Fashion Design Studio in 2008 and founded his eponymous label in 2010, building a design language over more than fifteen years around deconstructed tailoring, negative space, and sculptural hardware — cutouts and structural details that balance revealing and concealing in a way that has drawn comparisons to the precision of Martin Margiela and the modern deconstructive instincts of Marine Serre and Glenn Martens.
Esber made his New York Fashion Week debut in 2012, won the L’Oréal National Designer Award the same year, and picked up the regional Woolmark Prize in 2013 before Vogue Italia named him its Most Talented Designer for the Australia-Pacific region. His slow-and-steady rise — what he has called “a slow burn” — accelerated sharply in the 2020s, with the brand reporting 202 percent year-over-year growth in 2022 and attracting devoted celebrity fans including Zendaya, Rihanna, and Dua Lipa. In 2024, Esber became the first Australian designer ever to win the ANDAM Prize, and the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode invited him onto the official Paris Fashion Week calendar in September 2023, following in the footsteps of fellow Australian export Zimmermann.
For S/S 2027, CHRISTOPHER ESBER presents on the official Paris calendar continuing his fifteen-year project of building sensual, architecturally precise tailoring — proof that Sydney’s fashion scene can produce houses with genuine global staying power.
