Küchenchef Chris & Linda Villafane

South Beach Wein- und Kulinarikfestival week kicked off in the most delicious way possible on Tuesday evening as EATZ by Chef Chris Valdes returned for its milestone fifth year, this time set against the stunning backdrop of the newly renovated Loews Miami Beach Hotel on Collins Avenue.

The invitation-only culinary celebration has become one of the most anticipated events of festival week, and the fifth edition did not disappoint. Guests arrived in an atmosphere buzzing with energy, creativity, and the kind of bold Miami flavor that Chef Chris Valdes has built his reputation on. From the moment the first bite was served, it was clear this evening was a love letter to the city’s thriving food scene.

A Night Curated for the Senses

Chef Valdes, the Miami-born Food Network Star finalist and cookbook author, once again took center stage as the evening’s culinary architect, collaborating closely with Loews Executive Chef Christopher Aguirre to deliver a menu that was equal parts daring and indulgent. Together, they brought in a curated lineup of local chefs and restaurant partners, turning the event into a true showcase of Miami’s culinary community.

Among the highlights of the evening were Loews Miami Beach Hotel’s two newest culinary concepts making their EATZ debut: Bistro Collins and The Sushi Bar. Both venues impressed guests with bites that reflected their distinct personalities, from approachable, ingredient-forward bistro fare to refined, artfully constructed sushi.

Partners That Elevated Every Bite and Sip

The evening was made possible by an impressive roster of event partners, each contributing to the night’s overall experience. Florida Dairy Farmers and the Florida Beef Council ensured that the savory selections were rich, high-quality, and rooted in local pride. Mionetto Prosecco kept glasses full and the mood effervescent throughout the night.

On the restaurant side, Chef Adrianne’s Vineyard Restaurant and Bar brought their signature passion-driven cooking to the table, while Bar Tulio’s and Birdie Bistro rounded out the lineup with their own distinctive takes on bold, crowd-pleasing food.

Five Years in the Making

What makes EATZ special is not just the food, though it certainly sets a high bar. It is the community it has built over five years. Timed intentionally alongside the 25th anniversary of the Food Network South Beach Wein- und Kulinarikfestival, this year’s EATZ carried an extra layer of significance. The festival itself has long celebrated the intersection of food, culture, and Miami’s irreplaceable energy, and Chef Valdes has channeled that same spirit into an event that feels personal, joyful, and unmistakably South Florida.

Chef Valdes, who has appeared on Food Network Star, Chopped, and co-hosted Roku’s “Que Delicioso!”, has always been rooted in the idea that Essen is a connection. That philosophy was on full display Tuesday night as guests mingled, tasted, and celebrated alongside chefs who genuinely love what they do.

The Setting: A Newly Renovated Icon

The newly renovated Loews Miami Beach Hotel provided a worthy stage for the occasion. A landmark on Collins Avenue, the hotel’s refreshed spaces offered an elevated yet welcoming atmosphere that matched the warmth and creativity of the evening’s culinary programming. It was a fitting setting for a night that felt both celebratory and intimate.

Blick in die Zukunft

After five years, EATZ has proven itself as more than just a pre-festival party. It is a tradition, one that honors Miami’s chefs, champions local culinary talent, and reminds attendees why this city is one of the most exciting food destinations in the country. If Tuesday night was any indication, year six is already something to look forward to.
